Colour Mate strengths production with Fuji Acuity

Established in 2000, wide-format printing company situated in Paharganj (Delhi), Colour Mate Digital, has upgraded its production facility by installing a Fuji Acuity LED 1600 UV inkjet wide-format printer. The machine has been supplied by Fujifilm’s dealer ADM Equipments.

The printer can print heat-sensitive media since it produces less heat during the operation. Fuji claims that the machine consumes far less energy compared to conventional UV lamps and can last up to ten times longer.

Sandeep Bhutani, managing partner, Color Mate, established the company in 2000 with a small setup of machines. On the installation, he commented, “The installed roll-to-roll hybrid printing press fulfils our demand of wide-format UV jobs.”

Colour Mate is a service bureau and provides complete solution to their customers from pre-press to final product, and is supported by a solid team in fabrication. Bhutani added, “We work for jobbers and do not go to the print buyers directly. This is our business model. From inception, we have focused in the wide-format printing market only.” Currently, the wide-format printing company has eight print machines in its facility including machines from HP, Roland, Agfa Jet I, Esko Kongsberg cutting table, and a number of Chinese printers.

Explaining the decision, he said, “Customers want instant prints. Offset and screen are time consuming processes and need huge volume. Also, profit margin in both the processes is less as compared to wide-format. Our customers’ demands keep increasing. Now we had to install this LED UV printer. Earlier we were doing their jobs on screen and offset but for short run jobs they want digital production. Polycarbonate membranes were used to print on screen in high volume days but now volume is decreasing day by day.” Sandeep Bhutani and his two cousins are first generation entrepreneurs and have acquired the printing skillsduring the course of handling the business.

Bhutani added, “We will be installing a bigger and better printer from Fuji. We are in to concepts and solutions. Our volume may be less but profits are higher.” The company claims that it has been registering a growth of 25% annually.

Colour Mate Digital runs two facilities round the clock at Paharganj and Rani Jhansi Road, Delhi with a workforce of 35 people.
