Speaking to WhatPackaging?, Amit Garg, director, Optomech engineers, said, “This machine is the first of its kind and will be essential for anyone who does induction sealing on their containers. At present, this kind of machine is not available anywhere else, and the manufacturers rely on manual sampling for the inspection which is not even full-proof. With this machine, the manufacturers can now have a 100% inspection of all the containers.”
According to Optomech Engineers, the machine uses thermal imaging technology that can dislodge the obsolete conventional inspection techniques that rely on destructive, imperfect and often line-slowing sampling. Also, this system will increase operational efficiency and effect reduction in batch failure.
The system provides a tamper-proof hermetic seal which is particularly useful in the packing of high volume consumer products such as oils, food products, medicines and pesticides amongst others.
“A good induction seal is essential in plastic bottles used for pharmaceutical and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) product packaging. It prevents leakage, it’s tamper-proof, maintains product quality and fosters consumer confidence. The ISIVS consists of a non-destructive method for checking the quality of aluminium foil seals in plastic bottles,” Garg said, adding, “When the induction-sealed container passes throughout the ISIVS a highly sensitive cooled thermal camera images the heat profile of the seal. Advanced software algorithms are used to analyse the thermal image for detecting the defects. The defective containers are ejected from the line.”
Induction sealing Integrity verification machine helps rectify defects such as cut liner; loose cap; moon cup; no liner and over and under heating.
