​MCMA's conference at PacMechEx on 10 June

The three-day event aims to witness latest developments in packaging material and technology to help enhance quality and marketability of products. The exhibitor list includes Cerex, Fabcon India, GEA , Mespack, Kiron Food Processing Technologies, Vedic Pac-Systems, Dynamech Engineers among others.

Sanjay Bhatia, president, Metal Container Manufacturers’ Association (MCMA) said “PacMechEx, is designed to be the one stop sourcing platform for packaging material, machinery, technology and other packaging related services for the food and beverage, retail, FMCG and other packaging intensive industries.”

Meanwhile on the sidelines of the show, MCMA will conduct a conference on 10 June. The panel will consist of Pritee Chaudhary, FSSAI Director west region; Sanjay Bhatia of MCMA; Dr. KU Methekar, deputy director, FSSAI; Ravi Purbhe, manager - application engineer, Henkel; Damien Fourcade, manager - sustainability, Henkel, AVPS Chakravarthy, global ambassador, WPO; Santosh Panda, senior packaging manager, Britannia; P Anand, vice president - marketing and sales, TCIL and Ashwani Sharma, vice president, marketing and sales, JSW Steel.

Venu Ayyar of the MCMA said, “The conference will focus on the advantages associated with the metal packaging of food and beverages and its contribution to circular packaging.” 

In addition to the MCMA conference, there is the Pac MechEx Congress on 9 June with the theme, “Innovations in Food packaging: Safety, Security and Sustainability" which is being organised under the aegis of India's premier packaging institute, the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP). There are technical sessions about innovative packaging in consumer pack - bakery, confectionary, dairy products as well as sustainable packaging - packaging waste management and recycling; and food and beverage packaging (regulations).

A report published by Invest India states that by 2024, the Indian food processing industry will potentially attract USD33 billion investments. The industry is expected to generate employment for nine million people by 2025.  As per reports, India's food processing sector is expected to be worth over half a trillion dollars by 2030. The Indian annual household consumption to treble, making India fifth largest consumer.
