Clariant adds desiccant packets to its production portfolio

Gautam Arora, head of healthcare sales, Clariant India, said, “By adding the capability to produce two new lines of desiccant packets in India, Clariant has become a more comprehensive pharmaceutical desiccant supplier for pharmaceutical manufacturers in India and throughout the region.”

The plant now manufactures continu-strip and continuous-roll desiccant packets and individually cut desiccant packets in a full range of sizes. The company can manufacture both these types to suit the requirement of its pharmaceutical customers using a choice of desiccants in various sizes that meet specific container or shelf-life requirements.

According to Arora, positive market response to canister desiccants produced at the Cuddalore site influenced the new investment for additional capacity. “The addition expands the range of desiccant products immediately available to customers in the region and increases global capacity,” added Arora.

The Cuddalore site is certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, 18001, and ISO 15378 standards, along with the GMP certificate, which shows that the unit complies with the manufacturing regulations and standards for primary pharmaceutical packaging.

This new addition enables Clariant Healthcare Packaging to offer Indian customers a wide range of protective packaging solutions that include desiccants, tubes and desiccant stoppers, oxy-guard multi-layer barrier bottles, oxygen scavengers, EQius humidity regulators, and advanced desiccant polymer (ADP).

Established in 2017, the Cuddalore plant initially it produced Clariant's line of sorb-it, tri-sorb, two-in-one can, and getter can sorbent canisters for the Indian and Asia-Pacific pharmaceutical packaging markets, which it continues to produce.

The Cuddalore site is part of Clariant Healthcare Packaging’s global network of five production plants that also include Changshu and Dongguan in China; Romorantin in France; and Belen in New Mexico, USA. All the five of plants now produce desiccant packets.
