When Venkat assumed charge of the Kerala print market in addition to the Tamil Nadu market, he shared with PrintWeek that "only a few Heidelberg presses were present." He sold innumerable new and pre-owned sheetfed presses in his sales career apart from promoting the Suprasetter CTP kit, Prinect software, Polar cutting machines and Stahl folding machine.
He says Heidelberg new sheetfed presses were installed (and serviced) in print destinations like Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode plus Chennai. In addition, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Sivakasi and Tiruvannamalai saw the presence of the Heidelberg brand.
Venkataraman Ganesan began his journey at Heidelberg when he was 33 years old. He said, "Walking in to join the company has been a proud moment for me and something that I will never forget in this lifetime." His role in the company was techno commercial sales.
He said, "Joining such a reputed company as Heidelberg was a dream come true for me. Over the years I found myself evolving, growing, and prospering, and my contributions were appreciated by the company who saw me as a true professional." During the past two decades, Venkat won 18 sales awards including the international award for the promotion of Prinect sales.
While asked about the one sales deal he is proud of, Venkat shared, "Concluding each and every deal is a challenge and a proud moment." His mantra in life, "customer’s success is our success".
While asking about the one key trend in the Tamil Nadu and Kerala market, he said, "It's a no-brainer. The packaging sector is growing at a rapid pace in Kerala. Even during the Covid-times some of the packaging printers were busy. What impressed me is how they handled the situation so professionally."
His tip to the print fraternity in Tami Nadu and Kerala is to venture into labels and flexo print solutions. He said, "Bake the cake - instead of sharing a slice." He urged all print factories to look at high productivity, lower wastage, quicker makeready time and adopt automation in printing.
He signed off: "It has been a wonderful learning experience. The changes in technology have been unbelievable. I must thank all my team members for their hard work and my customers for their loyal support over the years. I hope they’ll support Heidelberg just as much."
