Where do you learn the tricks of the trade? In an executive education programme or on the job?
A lot of it is on the job coupled with reading and interaction with staff and peers.
What technology has made the biggest difference to your business?
Press standardisation has really helped. We’ve been able to achieve consistency and repeatability in print, allowing the processes to be more scientific and less art. This is possible because of digitisation and automation of quality control instruments like Intellitrax.
What do you prefer: a mentor in the industry or brain storming with like-aged?
A lot of innovation comes from people not within the industry since they are unaware of the limitations. But for specific issues someone who has been in the industry is invaluable.
The most frequently used mantra in your organisation? Your motto in life?
Let the problems surface, and then solve them once and for all. This helps us to avoid repeating mistakes and ensures we are always improving.
What’s the first thing you do on entering the office?
I usually take a round of the press before continuing on to other activities.
When you see a great piece of print created by your competitor, what is your reaction?
It’s encouraging and its inspiring. It only means that there is a market for good work and not just low cost. The PrintWeek India Awards showcase, for example, always provides for great learning.

None of the above! With two young kids there’s no sleeping in, at all.
