14 days to PrintPack India 2017: Top 25 exhibitors at the show - The Noel D'Cunha Sunday Column
370 confirmed exhibitors till date, 14,000+ sq/m net space in nine halls, the third largest show in the world, PrintPack India 2017, is close to breaching the 400 exhibitor mark. “The exhibitors will be using the PrintPack platform to showcase their abilities to produce superior products,” says Sanat Shah, industry veteran and chairman at Manugraph.
In this Sunday Column, we focus on 25 exhibitors with the biggest space at the show, who are vying for industry TRPs with new models.

Megabound
Hall 3/ B-15
Stand size: 253 sq/m
Megabound, Bengaluru’s case-binding and rigid-box equipment manufacturer, replaces Line O Matic at the largest-single exhibitor. A super show last time, Megabound is expecting this edition to be even bigger. The company has been selling 20 machines a month with 30% of its revenue coming from exports. The company will showcase a semi-automatic rigid-box making machine, priced at Rs 12-lakh.
We have learned that the company is working on a surprise machine, a next level in case-binding, plan for which is privy only to Srinivas Reddy, director for marketing at the company and his partner Ramesh Karuppathvar, the technical director. Even the factory works have no access to the plan. “This will be a must-have machine on the shopfloor,” says Reddy.
Provin Technos

Provin has opted for a bigger stand compared to 156 sq/m space in 2015.
The second-largest exhibitor will run live demos of three machines at the stand. One is the brand new RMGT 920-5 plus coater UV press with multi-wavelength LED UV, and two others are pre-owned but refurbished Ryobi 3304 HA press and Ryobi 3302 press.
The 36-inch 920-5 plus coater UV press is one of the popular RMGT press in India. See the new developments in multi-wavelength LED UV system, which is capable of curing conventional UV inks.
The refurbished Ryobi presses have been completely done up at Provin’s facility in New Delhi.
Prakash Offset

See Prakash’s most ambitions project yet, the Newslight 36 at the third-largest stand. “The Newslight 36 is designed keeping in mind today’s requirement of newspaper with high usage of technology and quick changeovers,” said Saurabh Gupta of Prakash.
Still under wraps, we understand the press will run at a top speed of 36,000 copies per hour, will be fully shaftless machine, full touchscreen control, automatic flying splicer, spray bar dampening system and automatic ink curves are few of the specifications – quite enough to make it a “must-see”.
The manufacturer of web offset presses has over 1,500 installations worldwide.
Line O Matic

You will miss the long printing line that made many flock to the Line O Matic stand. Last time it was the Bolt RB 104, which stole the thunder. But, expect a similar bang in a smaller space from some of the smaller machines from the company. Lino O Matic, prefers to keep it a secret.
Monotech

Witness a slew of new launches at Monotech, many from its own stable. The Digicut is a paper cutting machie, the DigiGlow is a new digital UV and foiling system. The JetSci Colornovo, launched at Labelexpo India late last year, will make its PrintPack dubut and so will the IntaGlios gravure engraver, which already has a couple of installations.
A sample gallery will mark the presence of Drupa show-stoppers, Scodix and Highcon, and so will label specialists Focus and Labelmen. Plus see, Hansgronhi laser cutting and engraving kit, Pioneer PUR Binder from Digital, lamination cum finishing product Quattro Slit from GMP Korea, Founder Superline anti-counterfeiting solution and process metallic colour system, from Color Logic. And a range of wide-format machines for signage and display.
The Printers House (TPH)

TPH has not disclosed what it will be showing, but expect the Faridabad-based The Printers House, one of the oldest, and the country’s second largest web offset printing presses manufacturers, to showcase automated features, including auto reel changer, auto registration and cut-off control, auto inking and digital preset, ink-water balance preset, auto ink pumping, footprint shaft less and compensating stacker and few more on its presses.
Going into Drupa, TPH’s Pawan Tyagi, had said, we have strong base of our loyal customers in India, many of them placed orders with us just after Drupa, like HT, Amar Ujala, Dainik Bhaskar etc.
TPH has an installed base of some 2,500 four-tower units.
Memory Repro Systems

Things may be a bit subdued at Memory after the loss of their mainstay, Bal Krishna Khindria. But for a man who was at the forefront of change, the legacy is sure to take the company forward, just like he wanted it to.
The company’s key products at the show include high-speed carton inspection machine from Beijing Sino MV Technologies; fully automatic thermal lamination machine with auto feeder; automatic case-making machine; rigid box-making plant and range of video punch and bender for sheetfed and web offset presses.
Alpna Visual Packaging Aids

Magic Cure is this UV specialists new offering at the show. A retrofit, the UV curing system is designed for sheetfed offset presses. Key features include the ellipticle dichroic water-cooled reflectors technology, advanced EPS controllers, German water-cooling technology and seamless integration into existing offset presses.
And for high-volume packaging converters, there’s the Rhino Dexa, a twin-deck offline UV coater. Vijay Aggarwal of Alpna says it a versatile packaging kit, a must-have. Alpna will be running live demos of the two machines.
Other machines include, the Eagle offline roller-coater, and the Dhanush advanced chamber anilox retrofit coater for sheetfed presses.
Alpna has joined hands with Sun Graphics of New Delhi, to launch Auto, a German automatic screen printing machine.
Joy D-Zign Engineers

The enthusiastic NS Manku at the helm of Joy says, visitors will be in for a fabulous introduction to new machines for exercise notebook processing and diary / hard case bound books. At the show, the company has lined up three very innovative machines. “The new launches and the equipment being displayed would surpass the industry standards in technology, output, power consumption, foot print and ease in handling,” he says.
Besides, Joy will also displaying its existing bestsellers with improvements and innovations. Among them, the Joint Forming Press Online can be attached to any inline processing system. It has been especially designed to cater to heavy books of large formats, up to 410x410x100 mm. For the hard case book binding industry, the company is launching the case spine rounding press to enhance quality of the finished books. Another launch will be the hydraulic label punching press with Stamfag, a high performance die-cutting tool.
Electro Mec

The last time we met Electro Mec, it was at the Eastern PrintPack in 2014. At that show, we saw the up upgraded six-clamp Diamond series, which already had 50 installations in Kolkata, notable among them being National Art Press, Swapna Offset Printer, Dey Offset Printer, and Anderson Printing House.
Will we see another upgrade to the Diamond series, or an entirely new kit? We will know at PrintPack 2017.
Bobst India

Bobst will run the demo of its high-speed folder-gluer VisionFold 110 A2 with auto collection, and will run multiple jobs. According to Venugopal Menon, the machine on display is a modular cum versatile machine with multiple jobs processing capability, which can produce consistent quality over and over again. “VisionFold not only lets you handle all the styles that you would expect but, because of its ease of setup and effortless repeatability, it delivers the same flawless quality every time the job runs. This help print companies for achieving JIT and gain more trust for future orders,” Menon adds.
Canon India

One of the four digital print equipment manufacturers at the show, Canon India has lined up a number of products both in wide-format as well as digital production printing space, the highest number of product launches ever from Canon in the last four years in a single show.
There are plans to give few new models of the colour ImagePress series in the digital cutsheet segment as well as inkjet and LED colour in the wide-format segment, an India launch. “All the products launched at PrintPack will be quite revolutionary in their respective domains and will gain attraction of customers,” says Puneet Datta of Canon.
NBG Printographics Machinery

Not much has been disclosed, but expect this web offset manufacturer of printing presses to spring a surprise. At Drupa 2016, NBG showcased its web offset machinery, but was using the platform as a springboard to enter the packaging market.
Malhotra Graphics

A new-look Malhotra Graphics will showcase three key products focusing on automation, flexibility, and workflow optimization. They are Morgana’s Digibook PUR 200, a semi-automatic perfect binding machine; Morgana’s BM 350- a centre-pinning booklet-making solution with options of in-line trimming and squareback fold; and Renz ECL 700, a wire binding system suited for calendars.

For those who are looking to move from manual die-punching to automated die-punching, Excel’s Maxima is the kit, say printers from Surat, a few of whom PrintWeek India met few months ago.
Its flagship Maxima EXB 35 has over 114 installations. Buoyed by the success of the Maxima Exb-35, the company will be launching the bigger sized automatic die-cutting machine, the HS 1020 model, in 28x40 size with stripping. The new model boasts a speed of 7500 sph.
Ronald Web Offsset

If you are looking for a web press to print back-to-back colour pages, there the Roland Automatic 4 Hi-tower press at the Ronald stand. According to Aditya Gupta of Ronald, since PrintPack 2015, the company has sold machines to both newspapers and book publishers. “There is a demand of these machines in the book printing segment in India and abroad. Due to the stringent quality control and after-sales services we provide, we are able to get new as well repeat orders from the existing customers.”
Zhongke India

China-based Zhongke started its India operation with a bang, booking nine fully automatic machines at the Sino Corrugated show in India. The rigid box making equipment manufacturer, will hope to further consolidate its position in the Indian market.
Worldwide, Zongke has 3,000 machines worldwide, 1,800 of which are installed in China alone.
Techno Graphics Services (TGS)

TGS, which represents Wen Chyuan, was in news for signing a deal with Parksons Packaging. This included orders for two KYE-108DRK automatic film lamination machines for its Sri City plant. TGS was also in news during Drupa, where Pragati picked up an SBL kit, the company it represents.
At the show, see the latest from Wen Chyuan, film laminating and spot UV/water-based varnishing machines and SBL’s automatic die-cutting machine, as well as other companies it represents in India, which includes Golden Tec Machinery’s roll to sheet machine and cut to register machines; and ChenChin’s sheetfed gravure and embossing machines. Besides, there will be Kodak Digiflex digital flexo plates at the Techno Graphics Services (TGS) stand.
