His advice to print firms: create a niche market and become a super specialist.Randive was a jury member at the PrintWeek India Awards 2014. During the Jury Day, he selects a piece of print created by Silverpoint, which epitomises this mantra. He says, "This corporate brochure produced on Cordenons paper with Augmented Reality (AR) is a great mix of printing and electronic media. The future is here."
Mumbai-based Silverpoint Press, like a lot of pedigree print firms, relies on Cordenons to pull off a top job.

CDC Printers produced the Altair Brochure on Natural Evolution with two passes. Thousand pieces of this job was preflight with the EnfocusPitstop and proofed on the Epson Stylus pro 9900. CDC deployed the Prinergy Evo and Adobe print engine with 20 micron screenings on the Mitsubishi Diamond 1000. The company showed off its hard case binding skills with several mini gatefolds. Interestingly, the job was printed in CMYK in the first pass, and then in the second pass, silver was printed. After which the job was rendered with online aqueous coating. The brochure produced by the Kolkata-based CDC stood out due to the colours being beautifully reproduced using ISO 12647-2 printing standards.
Jak Printers produced 600 pieces of the Ikebana brochure. For this, the files were routed through Heidelberg Prinect workflow to Suprasetter CTP system. The Epson Stylus Pro 9880 with EFI XF RIP was used to proof the pages; while the job was printed on a Heidelberg Speedmaster CD102-Y+LX (seven colours). This job which was produced on the Cordenons - Natural Evolution had foil stamping on hard cover, aqua varnish, hard case and book block fitting, rendered manually.
Mytec Process from Bengaluru produced thousand pieces of the PrideWilasa brochure using Natural Evolution for the inner pages. The firm headed by Akshay Poddar used the one bit TIFF Harleqin RIP, which was fired onto a Screen CTP system. The job was printed on a Heidelberg CD 102 5/C online coating. The USP of the job was hard case binding with foam on the front cover and metal leathering on a plate pasted on the cover. The job had to be metal lettered on the plate as these letters and elements could not be transferred on the cloth, directly.
Pragati Offset produced 3000 pieces of the All New Corolla Altis Toyota brochure. This job exquisitely output with 200lpi screening was printed on the Komori Lithrone 740. The brochure has a hard case bound book with animated lenticular piece pasted on the cover. The highlight of this stunning job is – the animated lenticular piece change from the original 1970s logo to the latest one. The background is a blur of movement- signifying the evolution and progress of this iconic car. There is back to back pasting of inner sheets; plus silver hot foil stamping of the outer sleeve. The Hyderabad-based print champion used Natural Evolution White 200gsm for the pages. Interestingly, the same paper pedigree was deployed by Pragati for the Avadh-Kimberley brochure. Printed on the Mitsubishi 3000 Diamond, this job shows off double inner pages and hard case binding. The "ooh" factor is the raised UV pattern screen printed across the cover plus a debossed area into which the Met-Pet has been printed and micro-embossed piece has been pasted.
Ramya Reprographics from Bengaluru produced 500 pieces of the LodhaMeridian brochure. The job was ripped with a Fuji workflow on a Screen CTP platesetter and printed on a Heidelberg SM 74. The highlight of the job was the section-stitching and perfect binding. The break up was 12 pages of three sections and one eight-page section. For the cover page, the Ramya team deployed 280gsm Natural Evolution White and for the text it was 145gsm Natural White Evolution.
Vishwakala Printers produced short runs of 200 and 500 for Tanishq. For this, the Bengaluru-based firm deployed the Apogee workflow and plates were output on a Kodak Trendsetter 400 platesetter. The job was printed on a Heidelberg XL 75 four-Color + online coating with IR dryer. The Vishwakala team used 145 and 280gsm Natural Evolution White for the job which was embellished with matt and gloss gold foiling on pouch and insert. Vishwanath Babu said, "Most of the inner pages are double spreads. Therefore utmost care was taken to match the colours on the double spread.
