When Kodak entered the market with the technology, it shook up the industry. “The acceptability of KODAK’S FLEXCEL NX Technology is wide. This gave confidence to the clients. Plus, jobs that used to be produced on gravure can now be converted into flexo. Kodak raised the bar,” says Deepanshu Goel of Creative Graphics, a pre-press bureau with its headquarters in Noida.
He says customers want Kodak plates because of its advantages — high resolution and high density. The flat top dot technology is a game-changer.
Game-changer in flat top dot
Goel says the benefits of flat top dots include low pressure, low consumption of printing inks, crisp text, long plate life, good transfer of printing inks among others. The company invested in its first KODAK FLEXCEL NX System three years ago, a 42x60-inches line. Now, the KODAK FLEXCEL NX System takes care of 10 to 15% of the company’s total production.
“Customers choose the plates,” Goel says. “We suggest Kodak to our customers if they need better transfer and high resolution. Being a supplier, we have to invest continuously to grow according to client needs. Some clients are comfortable with Kodak and others are not. Ultimately, it’s the customers’ choice.” Goel says there is no price difference between KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates and other available printing plates in the market. There is a support system from Kodak which includes an application manager and both work well.
The USP
Finally, Goel says, he will recommend KODAK FLEXCEL NX Technology to his customers when they require high density.
