Drupa Preview: Indian exhibitors set targets for Drupa

Despite volatile market conditions, Manugraph says that it has maintained growth while launching unique products suitable to the customer’s requirement. Manugraph will occupy 241 sq/mtrs space and will showcase the M360 tower of 36,000 cph and Hiline Express tower of 50,000 cph which are solutions to the current and emerging print requirements. Both kit will be displayed in static condition. According to Manugraph, the Hiline Express is a “sophisticated product in the range of 4-page rotary Presses”, suitable for high-class quality printing of newspapers and semi-commercial products at an economic cost. Manugraph will focus on Hiline’s commercial type of ink train technology : a 10-roller ink train with 3 ink forme rollers of differing diameters and 3 water-cooled oscillators, complemented by a zone-wise controllable Spray Dampening system. And with UV or heatset package installed, Hiline Express is a machine to watch for at Manugraph’s stand. M360, is the latest addition to the Manugraph stable, originally designed by MDGM, USA. With a maximum speed up to 36,000 cph and an excellent price performance ratio, Manugraph says, M360 meets the printing requirements of small and medium circulation newspapers and semi-commercial printers alike.

BST Sayona specialises in web inspections and web guiding systems for printing, packaging and plastic industries. During the show, BST will unveil quality assurance systems –QCenter and QCenter.Spectral; these two developments will set new standards in the production quality control on web printing. QCenter. Spectral provides solution for the ever growing need of the industry to obtain both reliable inline and offline data on specified colours over the entire print production. Due to the close development partnership between BST and X-Rite the results of inline measurement and measurement with stationary handhelds are comparable for the first time. “This will set a new industrial standard for colour quality control and workflow simplification,” says the company.

After making a successful debut at Drupa in 2008, Chemline will yet again focus on its range of adhesive and varnishes for printing and labelling, flexible packaging and book binding industry. At Drupa 2012, Chemline will display dispersion adhesives, hot melts, hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives, gelatine glues, solvent based adhesive and PU adhesive. “Drupa has helped us take our business to new heights. It was an ideal exposure for us. It was an opportunity to come face-to-face with global companies and customers with interest in our products,” says Ravindra Goel, managing director of Chemline. According to Goel,what provides Chemline edge over other brands is the customised solutions it can offer to its customers. “The product is ready-to-use and is compatible with various machines and is hassle free. Cost is the other factor.”
Chemline will also be making a splash at Drupa by announcing its intention to go global by setting up production facilities in other parts of the world, to make the product available to its customers in short span of time. “It is our aim to be the market leader in India as well as a dominant international player for its high class adhesives, coatings and other packaging related material,” says Goel. As Indian printers, move up to the super-competive market, the biggest challenge they face is consistency in delivering the best result which meet high standards compared to any European printers. “We finally believe that the Indian printing industry is meeting the expectations,” confides Goel.

Paper Bind, a part of First Paper Idea India (FPII), will be using its first Drupa participation to announce a new business format, Paper Bind Alliance. The company will highlight the new vertical’s offerings, which include printing finishing solutions like professional grade guillotine equipment, multi-clamp hot melt and PUR binders.
Formed to bring together sales and aftersales support from print equipment manufacturers from US and Europe, this step marks the company’s entry into the commercial print vertical. Paper Bind will showcase three different portfolios, the first being Paper Bind PUR systems, from single clamp to multi-clamp systems. The company says the PUR system represents a new level of productivity and sophistication in the super-compact perfect binder category. “It does not require an external glue system, and is able to run both hot-melt and PUR glue with no mechanical change over and it also features auto cleaning, which does not require purging the glue from the system.” Paper Bind has installed five PUR systems so far.
The second part of the portfolio at Drupa consists of digital creasing system and its new
range of digital slit cut and crease systems and the third, guillotine equipment.

ACME MACHINERY

In its second presence at Drupa, Acme will exhibit its carton folder and gluer machine. The straight-line machine functions at a speed of 250-350 mtrs/min. According to the company’s claim, the machine’s pasting mechanism facilitates a free re-opening for pharmaceutical filling machines.
“We generate 80% of our business from the existing clients each year. At Drupa, we are targetting to increase our existing new client percentile,” says Ketan Shah of Acme Machinery.The folding-gluing machine is designed with automatic lock bottoms to cater to the pharmaceutical and food packaging carton manufacturers.
