Tradeshow and print knowledge sharing conference and seminars are important to propogate ideal practices and new technologies.
The next couple of months will see a handful of such events, which will cover a wide range of gamut. Label printing, book printing, wide format and OOH and newspaper printing will all be the crux of various events and trade shows in the upcoming months.
Welbound Worldwide — 19-20 July
Welbound Worldwide has organised an open house, in Thiruvananthapuram on 20 July to discuss the “Dynamics of Book Printing 2013”, a dialogue between the print buyers, printers and solution providers create a module for operational efficiency in finding the right solutions.
The open house will include a walk-through the factory, demonstration of PUR systems, paper handling equipment, inline binders, visit to a nearby printing unit, one to one discussions with the specialists and discussions on workflow, training, efficient technology plus adapting to the new situations.
As per available data, based on consumption of paper and adhesives by the Indian book printers, the volume growth in FY 2012-13, over the previous year is just short of 20%. This is driven by burgeoning demand for textbooks and guides among India’s young population.
With this growth the publishers also have to confront new issues like change in syllabus, modification in academic schedules, logistics and of course: cost efficiency. Publishers want printers to extend services beyond printing and take up distribution. Delivering very small numbers, quick replenishment of stocks - just in time, zero rejections, environment-friendly operations and streamlining with the publishers’ work flow.

A combination of manufacturers and suppliers who cater to the Indian screen printing industry have pledged their support and presence at Screen Print India 2013, to be held at National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Exhibiton Complex, Okhla, New Delhi.
The exhibition, which is scheduled from 19-22 September, will be the first Screen Print India to be held in Delhi, all previous editions of the show were held in Mumbai.
The event has already gathered the support from Delhi Print Association, SGAI, J N Arora and 3M India. Major exhibitors like APL Machinery, Arpee Screen House, J N Arora and Co, Photokina Chemicals, San Printech, Skyscreen, S K Enterprises, Sunlan Chemicals and TechNova are among the few who have confirmed their presence and involvement at the Screen Print India 2013.
Screen Print India exhibition has been organised every two years since its debut in 1994. The exhibitor profile at Screen Print India 2013 will encompass technology drivers, knowledge transferees, manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and service providers.
Our Take: From wooden squeegee to rubber, from manual to inline six-colour automatic screen printing presses, screen printing has evolved. For a segment that’s growing at 10% per annum, it’s slowly emerging from being a technique used for printing visiting cards to niche jobs like spot coating and varnishing, flocking and drip, adding value to the printed products in the graphic arts industry. In the industrial and textile segment, it still rules the roost.
