How did the Indian printing sector look like in 2018?
The overall printing market in India is growing with digital printing specifically showing strong growth. The customer’s evolving requirements like faster turnaround times, value addition on each print, need for more customisation, personalisation and the need to cut costs is further fueling this growth. There will be a greater focus on more productivity, more performance and highest levels of quality - with applications and solutions playing an essential role in generating a better ROI for both the print supplier and the customer. The growth in the segment will be driven by improved technology, advanced automation; higher levels of service to customers, along with evaluation and development of new business opportunities that help customers grow their business.
What have been the updates at Xerox since PrintPack India 2017?
Since the last Printpack, we have launched some exciting products which have been extremely well received in the market. Building on the success of the Versant series, we launched Versant 180 and Versant 3100 and are happy to share that we are close to achieving a new milestone in this segment. We have also re-launched the D95A monochrome machine which has been very successful. Moreover, we launched our flagship product, the Xerox Iridesse Color production press. Overall, 2018 has been a very fruitful year for Xerox India. We are second in terms of market share in the production printing segment and also hold the third position in the office equipment segment.
How big is your stand at PrintPack India 2019?
We have booked a stall space of 99sqm at PrintPack India 2019. We are exhibiting at Hall 9 Stall G9.
What will be your Star Product at the show?
The highlight of our stand will be the Xerox Iridesse Color production press. The device was globally launched in May 2018, while the India launch happened atPrintExpo 2018 in Chennai in June. It is a high-end production colour press has the capability of creating overlays and underlays with metallic gold, silver, white and clear inks in addition to printing CMYK all in one pass. The press offers all the hallmarks of a digital press – personalisation, economical short runs, and agile production which are enhanced by new high-value inline capabilities. This enables our customers to create lucrative applications with spot colours, metallic and mixed metallic gradients, and specialty enhancements.
How many machines have you installed in India?
The response received has been overwhelming. In fact, we installed the first machine at Royal Offset, New Delhi within the first month since the launch and have closed multiple installations since June 2018.
Tell us about the technology that drives the Xerox Iridesse press.
It comes with a revolutionary 10-bit technology that handles vector graphics better and has four times more pixels than a standard digital press. It also prints at a very fast speed of 120 ppm with automatic colour maintenance and management tools inbuilt. It comes with a variety of tools that provide inline calibration, profiling, mottle correction, density correction and image to media alignment. Combined with a robust print path, versatile finishing options, and up to 120 pages per minute, we are certain that this all will add up to brilliant new opportunities for high-value print production and create new revenue streams
Why should a printer visiting PrintPack India 2019 spend time at your stand? How will he benefit?
In a hyper-competitive market, it is important for a customer to create value by way of giving more than standard CMYK prints. We call it CMYK+. It is this benefit that we are highlighting at the show. Not only will the customer understand the value each print creates with the additional colours but also how easy it is for them to turn it around with the Iridesse press. We believe that this new press will broaden horizons with the vast colour palette, wide media flexibility and high-value inline finishing.
What are the other products visitors can see at Xerox’s stand?
Besides the Iridesse production press, we will also have the Versant series – Versant 3100 and Versant 180; C70; and D95A.
