Hubergroup India, BILT and Repro score at CAPEXIL Awards
The CAPEXIL Export Awards for 2012-13 were announced on 28 January at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Kalraj Mishra awarded 250 companies in all with three broad categories - Highest Export Award (three winners), Top Export Awards (16 winners), Special Export Awards (63 winners), and Certificate of Merit (136). For the print industry, companies across the paper, ink, and books segments were recognised.

The Top Export Award
The eligibility for this category is a minimum export turnover of Rs 10 crore for registered Small Enterprises and Rs 20 crore for medium and large enterprises.
Here, Hubergroup India, BILT and Repro India, in their respective segments, were awarded.
Hubergroup India, which was formerly Micro Inks, exported ink and allied products worth Rs 1,12,633.93 lakh to countries like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland, UAE and USA among others.
BILT's export was worth Rs 31318.25 lakh for 2012-13. Some of the key countries to which the paper manufacturer exports are Brazil, Kenya, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Iran. In the previous month, BILT increased the price of some of its grades in anticipation of rising domestic demand
Repro India has a record number of CAPEXIL awards. The exports of the book giant were worth 20,464.50 lakh during 2012-13 with majority exports to Brazil, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, UK among others. After a dip in exports in 2015, in its Q2 results 2015-16, Repro reported 53% growth in the exports. This, the company attributed to the addition of newer clients in the international market.
On 14 October, Repro announced its partnership with Ingram Content Group to bring Ingram's print-on-demand service, Lightning Source, to India.
Special Export Award
The export performance of the firms under this category are evaluted across five parameters: export turnover during 2012-13, export growth/decline during preceding three years, export destination and special weightage for, manufacturer/exporter, and certifications/approvals/ recognition.
In addition to this, a minimum export turnover of Rs 10 crore for registered Small Enterprises and Rs 15 crore for medium and large enterprises.
In the inks panel, Sakata Inx receives a mention with Bangladesh, Egyp, Ethiopia, Hungary, Kenya, Nigeria, Oman and UAE being listed as major destinations of export.
Most paper majors have reserved a spot on the list. To begin with, ITC's (Packaging and Printing) export was valued at 14,234.61 lakh. Topping the chart with the highest export value is Chennai's Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) with an export value of Rs 29,704 lakh. The manufacturer exports printing and writing paper to Egypt, Iran, Kenya, Nigeria. Thailand. Turkey, and Sudan among others.
Three days ago, on 30 January, Tamil Nadu chief minister, J Jayalalithaa, inaugurated multi-layer double coated board plant of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) at Mandipatti village near Mannaparai in Trichy. With this, the TNPL's capacity has increased to six lakh tonnes a year, and taking the agency to become third in the country.
The others on the list include International Paper APPM (Rs 13168.30 lakh), Kaygee Loparex (Rs 5402.54 lakh), Orient Paper & Industries (Rs 3397.65 lakh), Lovely Offset Printers (Rs 2735.57 lakh), Seshasayee Paper and Boards (Rs 10971.03 lakh) and Parksons Packaging (Rs 6047.93 lakh). Last year, in March 2015, Parksons Packaging received a Rs 200-crore capital injection from Kedaara Capital, the private equity fund purchasing a significant minority stake in the packaging major.
Under the same category, New Delhi's top book publishers were listed for the panel 'books, publications & printing panel'. Of the three, Kundli-based Replika Press had reported exports of the highest value - Rs 7580.89 lakh - with exports in countries like Tanzania, Kuwait, Nigeria, Ghana, Oman and Singapore among others. Replika has, five times in a row, bagged the PrintWeek India Post-Press Company of the Year Award.
The other two names are: Brijbasi Art Press and Goyal Book Overseas.
Certificate of Merit
A certificate of merit is rewarded to all those companies who show good progress in exports while fulfilling the eligibility criteria - export turnover of Rs 10 crore for registered Small Enterprises and Rs 12 crore for medium and large enterprises.
The paper mills under the respective panel to receive the certificate are: A L Paper House (Rajasthan), Century Pulp & Paper (West Bengal), Deevya Shakti Paper Mills (Telangana), Gayatrishakti Paper and Boards (Maharashtra), ITC (Telangana), J K Paper (New Delhi), Rainbow Papers (Gujarat), Srinivas Fine Arts (Tamil Nadu), Super Impex (Maharashtra), The West Coast Paper Mills (Karnataka) and Yash Papers (Uttar Pradesh).
For the 'books, publications and printing' panel, four companies received the certificate. Topping the chart is Mail Order Solutions with exports of Rs 5720.94 lakh. The Mumbai-based firm is a name to reckon with for direct mail printing. With huge investments in 2014, the company re-launched with higher stakes to reach a turnover of Rs 300-crore.
The companies that followed are: Sterling Publishers (Rs 2229.08 lakh), Multivasta Global (Rs 2067.62 lakh) and NCBA Exports (Rs 1293.83 lakhs)
