Please describe your company.
Marks Emballage is a fast growing label printing company having one of the best infrastructures and a highly motivated and technically competent team to print labels with unmatched quality and capability in India. We offer brands unmatched value proposition for their label needs.
When did you start using the Gallus Labelmaster 440?
We were conducting customer trials and sampling by November-December last year and have started full production by January 2020.
What are the properties of the machine you like?
At Marks, we have always believed in investing in industry-proven and trusted equipment. Gallus Labelmaster is a high precision press with a solid built and having industry-leading automation features, customisation options and technical enhancements offering one of the highest price-to-performance ratio. Above all, we believe in the Gallus quality.
Why did you decide to use the Gallus Labelmaster 440?
While investing, we wanted our investment to be safe and secure. We were very clear that to build a solid business, we need to have the best in class equipment which will not let us down. With this thought, we went ahead with the latest generation of Gallus presses which make us ‘future ready’. I think this has given us a great peace of mind that we can now focus to build the business without worrying about any machine issues.
What are the features that tilted the favour in this?
The legacy behind the strong Gallus brand, competent local Gallus service and support team and stocking of critical spares in India sealed the deal in its favour.
How much have these features helped you?
I think, I can only say ‘immensely’. Seeing these machines print beautifully on a wide range of substrates at 200-m/ min is like watching a Ferrari in a Grand Prix. For what applications is the Gallus Labelmaster 440 used? We are printing labels for quite a few industry verticals from pharma, home and personal care, FMCG, wine and spirits. We have some unique capabilities on the press with some special add-ons for premium and security.
Is there anything that you do not like or can be improved?
I think now is the time that all presses come with a standard option to have a matrix-cutter and collection alongside the press instead of matrix roll-rewinder. Disposing matrix waste is a huge concern for all print companies and it’s going to be tougher going ahead. With some technical innovation on this, even matrix breaking issues should be minimised. This will drastically improve machine efficiency and output for press owners.
If there’s a critical print job that has come your way, would you rely on this to see it through?
Absolutely, no questions.
What’s the quality like?
I think the print quality is not only about the press. It’s like a great symphony. It needs a great artwork, amazing prepress, flawless plates, accurate plate mounting, standardised ink and colour management, good substrate, brilliant press and master operator. In this, Gallus definitely does its part brilliantly.
How easy is it to install, use and handle?
We can only say that the installation was quite smooth. I would not say that there are any minimums. It’s an entrepreneur’s call looking at their own business cases.
Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes, I definitely see a great value for our investment. It’s all about operational efficiency, flexibility to print on a wide range of substrates, quick job set up times, short web length, simpler for operator to run, reliable built, quick support and parts availability contribute to minimal downtime. Overall it’s like the sum total of all this is bigger than the parts.
Who do you think the Gallus Labelmaster 440 is right for?
Any serious label printer.
Under what circumstances would you recommend it?
So far our experience is quite good and happy with the performance. I would definitely give my recommendations for it
