Me & My: Heidelberg SpeedmasterCX 104 printing press

Please describe your company.
White Print O Pack is a pharma packaging company that was established in 2004. Our production unit in Baddi is equipped with complete solutions from pre-press to delivering the final products. The company is owned by four partners - Vidya Sagar Dewan, Gaurav Dewan, Rahul Dewan, and Amit Gera.

When did you start to use the Heidelberg Speedmaster?
We started using the Heidelberg machine in March this year, replacing a pre-owned machine. The new machine’s higher speed and size increased our production capacity by 80%.

Why did you decide to use the machine?
We already had a German printing press, but we wanted to explore new technology options and make a fair comparison. After researching all available options in the market, we found that Heidelberg would be a suitable choice. We visited their manufacturing plant in Germany and were impressed with the difference in technology. As capital equipment, after-sales service is crucial, and Heidelberg has a strong presence all over India, which makes us confident about our decision.

What are the features that tilted the favour in this?
The Speedmaster CX 104 offers a range of new possibilities for production, including navigated or autonomous operation. This is made possible by its intelligent support systems, such as Intellistart 3, and other unique features. 
With its new format, the Speedmaster CX 104 can handle a variety of materials, from lightweight paper to carton stock used for packaging, with ease.

How much have these features helped you in your production?
Thanks to the press we have, we are now able to print much faster on a variety of substrates that are available in the market. As we are in the pharma segment, it is essential for us to have a press that can help us reduce turnaround time, and this press has certainly helped us achieve that goal.

For what applications is the machine used?
We use the press to produce mono cartons, with a focus on Pantone colours.

Is there anything that you do not like or can be improved about this? 
Everything went smoothly with both the installation and production.

If there’s a critical packaging job that has come your way, would you rely on this to see it through?
Yes, without a second thought.

What’s the quality like? 
As a dedicated printing company for the pharmaceutical industry, we produce Pantone colours which are a true indicators of quality. Our customers are satisfied with the quality of our prints.

Would you say that it offers value for money? 
Although it provides value for money, it is important to constantly innovate and evolve with the industry. The Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104 offers a multitude of possibilities for growth.
