Me & My: Valco Melton Flexoseal Pro2 System

Please describe your company.
Kakinada (Cocanada), Andhra Pradesh-based, Santhoshimatha Corrugators is in the business of manufacturing corrugated boxes, both three- and five-ply with kraft and duplex as well, catering to food grade companies which are into edible oils and milk products, along with beverages and industrial segment companies from the last 15 years.

When did you start to use Valco Melton Flexoseal Pro2 System gluing unit?
We purchased our first basic gluing unit from Valco Melton in 2018. We were happy with its performance and the support from the Valco Melton team. So, we decided to go for an advanced gluing and inspection unit on our Bobst 8.20 FFG as well.  

What are the properties of the product you like?
We are impressed with the user-friendly interface that the system has and the silicon pad tip sealing system, which minimises downtime.

Why did you decide to use the product?  
We decided to go for the Valco Melton as they are global leaders in the segment and their service support in India is good. One of the highlights is the gluing and online inspection system; both help us to deliver quality product with zero defects.

Did you look at other similar product?  
No. We were clear that we will go with Valco Melton because of our experience with its existing system and its after-sales services.

What are the features that tilted the decision in favour of this kit?
Its robust design, quick set-up, the inspection system with glue detection, skew detection, and marking unit, which marks the defective boxes. If there is any defective box, the system shows the reason for the defect and helps us make the necessary changes swiftly.

How much have these features helped you in your production?
The Valco Melton system complements our line speed. We have a medium speed line with Valco Melton basic gluing unit, and we have a high-speed Bobst 8.20 folder-gluer line with Valco Melton sophisticated gluing and inspection system.

Is there anything that you do not like or can be improved about this?
It has most of the features for our need and we didn’t feel any problem before, during and after the installation.

If there’s a critical gluing job that has come your way, would you rely on this to see it through?
Yes, definitely.

What’s the quality like?  
Repeat order of any product shows the confidence of the buyer in the product. So, we can say that the quality is up to the mark.

How easy is it to use and handle?
These machines are user-friendly, and easy to maintain and operate. All you need to do is to follow the simple maintenance instructions given by Valco Melton’s team.

Would you say that it offers value for money?  
Yes, but not directly. It reduces rejections and a corrugator can save money by reducing defective production and increase productivity.  

Who do you think the product is right for?
All packaging converters.

Under what circumstances would you recommend it to others?
For all my industry colleagues who require high-speed folder-gluer lines and wish to minimise human interference with optimum productivity.
