A long-standing partnership

Thakker highlighted the deep-rooted association between Minosha and Ricoh, emphasising their shared history and successful journey in the office and commercial printing segments. “Minosha has built a strong customer base with robust sales and service capabilities. This foundation allows us to leverage Ricoh’s advanced technology and expand further in the Indian market,” he stated.

Miyao echoed this sentiment, stressing Minosha’s critical role in India’s digital transformation journey. “Our customers are at different stages of shifting from analogue to digital printing. Minosha’s expertise helps us understand their unique requirements, ensuring tailored solutions for each business,” he explained.

The role of the customer experience centre

The Customer Experience Centre (CEC) established by Minosha has played a pivotal role in demonstrating Ricoh’s capabilities to customers. Miyao noted, “Earlier, customers couldn't experience the machines firsthand. Now, they can test their requirements and understand the full potential of Ricoh’s technology before making an investment.”

When asked about scaling the India CEC to the level of Ricoh’s Thailand facility, Miyao acknowledged the difference in scale but assured that efforts are underway. “We are bringing the best of Ricoh’s technology and expertise to India. Our teams undergo specialized training abroad to ensure a seamless knowledge transfer tailored to the local market,” he added.

Prioritising service over rapid expansion

Unlike competitors who focus solely on sales numbers, Minosha and Ricoh have adopted a quality-first approach. Thakker explained their strategic expansion plan, saying, “We are expanding gradually, ensuring top-notch service availability before venturing into new cities. A commercial printing press requires immediate support, and without a strong service network, machine downtime can significantly impact business.”

The company has been strengthening its presence in eastern India, deploying skilled engineers to ensure customers receive the best post-sales support. “Our goal is to create a strong foundation before scaling operations. Selling hundreds of machines without proper service is not a sustainable approach,” he emphasised.

Navigating competition in the Indian market

With multiple global players — Japanese, American, and Chinese OEMs — competing in India, Ricoh is focusing on its strengths. “Our expertise lies in high-end colour production devices tailored for mid-to-high-volume printing. We already hold a leading global market share in this segment and aim to replicate that success in India,” Miyao stated.

Additionally, Ricoh is exploring high-speed inkjet solutions as part of a long-term five-to-ten-year strategic plan to meet the evolving needs of the Indian market. “By combining our technological prowess with Minosha’s deep customer understanding, we aim to create a competitive edge,” he added.

A strong and promising future

Looking ahead, both leaders expressed confidence in their partnership and future growth. Miyao acknowledged Minosha’s commitment to strengthening the Ricoh brand in India beyond commercial printing. Meanwhile, Thakker shared his pride in selling Ricoh machines, noting that customers appreciate their durability and superior colour reproduction.

“We have successfully converted customers from competing brands, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Ricoh’s robust technology and Minosha’s dedicated service create a winning combination,” Thakker concluded.

With a customer-centric approach, a steadily expanding service network, and cutting-edge digital printing solutions, Ricoh and Minosha India are set to make a lasting impact in the Indian commercial printing industry.
