What is the trickiest colour that you have had to print?
Achieving perfect consistency with metallic or fluorescent colours can be tricky, especially when ensuring uniformity across different substrates. One of the trickiest shades we’ve handled is a specific deep metallic gold for luxury packaging.
 
When and which print job or project made you the happiest?
A project that stands out is our collaboration with a global fashion brand for high-end packaging. The complexity and scope of the project pushed our limits, and seeing the final product in stores worldwide was incredibly rewarding.
 
One print blunder you made?
We miscalculated the foil cost for a large print run. It was a costly mistake, but it taught us the importance of triple-checking every detail before production.
 
What is your favourite print joke?
What did the paper say to the printer? “You make quite an impression on me!”
 
One job you wish you had printed?
There are several liquor packaging boxes with rotating inner compartments.
 
Which living print person do you most admire?
My father, Rajeev Kalra, for his incredible hard work and unwavering commitment. He started from nothing and built our printing and packaging business from the ground up, navigating countless challenges along the way.
 
What do you consider the most overrated virtue in printing?
Speed is sometimes overrated.
 
Which print technology, according to you, is the future? Why?
Digital printing, particularly with advancements in variable data and personalisation, is the future.
 
Which words or phrases or jargon do you overuse?
“Client-centric,” “innovation-driven,” and “quality-first” are phrases that frequently come up in our discussions.
 
If you could change one thing about your printing plant, what would it be?
I would invest more in automation and AI-driven processes to further streamline operations and reduce human error.
