Niche opportunities with a new focus: Ipex Preview - III
At Ipex there will be a dearth of heavy metal from the big press manufacturers. That not withstanding, visitors can expect plenty of things to get their head around on the printing front, with new technologies and new applications to check out.

Domino Printing Sciences S5 F391
Domino Printing Sciences’ range of digital inkjet printers and control systems deliver solutions that can be integrated into existing production equipment for variable data printing applications including QR 2D codes, barcodes, addressing, versioning and messaging. Visitors to Domino’s stand will be able to watch a demonstration of the company’s K600i mono inkjet printer, which has a configurable print width from 108mm to 558mm, and delivers 600dpi high-resolution UV-curable print at speeds of 50-75m/min. Also showcased will be Domino’s Bitjet+ v4.5, capable of in-line printing of addresses, barcodes, 2D codes and graphics on all media types, with no extra drying equipment needed.

Continuing the trend of having samples and information rather than actual equipment on stand, EFI’s focus this Ipex will be very much on the pre-media front, with software showcased including its PrintSmith Vision, Pace, Monarch, Radius and Metrix systems. The company will also have plenty of samples on hand, though, in order to showcase the abilities of its super-wide, wide-format, label and ceramic inkjet presses and inks.
Epson will showcase its latest range of inkjet large-format, dye-sublimation, direct-to-garment, label and proofing printers, and a digital label press at Ipex. On stand will be three 64-inch SureColor SC-S wide-format printers; two SureColor SC-F dye-sublimation printers (44in and 64in), and the new SureColor SC-F direct-to-garment t-shirt printer. Epson will also be showing the SurePress L-4033AW digital label press with white ink, and demonstrating colour managed proofing on its flexible Stylus Pro wide-format printer.
Intec Printing Solutions will display printers designed for envelope printing and labels, those for heavy media up to 600gsm and 28pt board, as well as finishing kit. The company plans to show its Intec EDGE 850 label printer and new Intec label finishing solution for on demand label printing at the event. Intec will also be launching a new digital printer, the CS5000, that can print white and clear toner onto thick boards.
LumeJet specialises in the design, development and manufacture of ultra-high resolution digital printers for commercial printers and photobook professionals. The company recently launched its first product, the LumeJet S200 Printer, which will be at Ipex. Calibrated for RGB, LumeJet says the S200 combines photographic quality contone images, fine-line vector artwork and pin-sharp text (down to below 1pt size).
Primera Technology is a manufacturer of label printing and finishing equipment, such as the CX1200e Color Label Press and FX1200e Digital Finisher. At Ipex the company will be presenting how the CX1200e can process runs of just a few labels to tens of thousands a day, combining high-resolution laser technology with fast print speed. The FX1200e performs laminating, digital die-cutting, waste matrix removal, slitting and rewinding in one automated process. Primera’s solution for pre-die cut label material is its new CX1000e Color Label Printer in combination with its FX1000e Matrix Removal System.
Riso wasn’t at Drupa, but it will be showing its low-cost, high-speed inkjet kit at Ipex. The firm will be showcasing the capability of its full-colour cut-sheet inkjet print engine, the ComColor X1, and unveiling new accessories that make it a cost-effective white paper solution. The Bridge fully integrated document mailing solution that prints, fold, inserts and seals in one seamless process, produced in partnership with Böwe Systec, will be launched.
Screen Europe will showcase its print-on-demand inkjet presses, including the Truepress Jet520 and the new Truepress Jet L350UV digital label press. The Truepress Jet520 prints on rolls of inkjet paper, standard paper and uncoated paper up to 520mm wide. Its top printing speed of 130m/min enables fast turnarounds and efficient production of high print volumes says Screen. It has a maximum imaging resolution of 720dpi. The Truepress Jet L350UV is designed as an easy-to-use inkjet label press that delivers photo-realistic quality, fast job turnarounds and stable, colour consistent, output. The press prints widths up to 322mm and prints at a top speed of 50m/min. Visitors will also see customised gifting, cartons and promotional packaging products all printed on the B2 Truepress JetSX digital inkjet press.
Xeretec, a strategic partner for Xerox production technology, will showcase the flagship Xerox iGen 150 press and Xerox Wide Format IJP 2000. Also running live on the firm’s stand will be the Xerox Color J75 and Color 560, with the reseller also informing visitors of its range of other print-related services and solutions for various industries.
