What does it do?
The machine compares the cartons to be inspected with master cartons, as per standards set by the customer. It then segregates good and rejected cartons based on results given by the inspection system. The machine can inspect 80000 cartons at 300 m/min, with a carton height of 140mm.
What market is it aimed at?
Checkmate 50 is for packaging houses which manufacture pharma, FMCG, food or cigarette cartons. Beside regular cartons, the machine can also inspect registered holograms. The machine has also been used to inspect G and E- flute cartons too and has found to be effective.
What’s the USP?
Carrying the Make in India tag effectively, Autoprint claims that Checkmate 50 is the only inspection system to cross the double-digit installation numbers in the last 40 months leaving behind its several Chinese counterparts.
Several machine features include fail-proof pneumatic ejection system, bottom feeding system with a vibrator, special scratch and cluster detection, archiving of defective print images, curved conveyor for collecting rejected cartons etc.
The easy-to-use software also features rich with automatic brightness correction inspection capability being a highlight.
Who’s using it?
The company lists some of the biggest names in the packaging printing industry in its clientele for Checkmate 50 with pharma and FMCG cartons being its predominant usage.
Also, most of the companies have installed multiple machines with Parksons Packaging topping the list with five installations. Rich Offset (four), Laxmi Packaging (two), Award Packaging (two) are some of the other printers with multiple installs.
Other customers include Any Graphics, Budhiraja Packaging, Essentra, Kumar Printers, Meera Offset, Noble Printing Press, Param Packaging, Paramount Art Print, Pragati Pack, Pravesha Industries, Printmann Offset, Sapco (Shree Arun Packaging), TCPL, Velpack and Yamir Packaging among others. Autoprint has also recently completed installations at three major Malaysian packaging companies.
How does it work?
The device comprises of comprehensive hardware including a feeder unit, camera inspection system, pneumatic ejection system, ultrasonic double sheet detector, vacuum belt and simple operator friendly software front end paired with a complex algorithm-driven back end. The Checkmate 50 works on the philosophy of inspecting, detect and segregate. Three cameras deployed in the machine which will identify all types of defects ranging from ink smudges, spots, scratches, uneven ink, colour variation, foil stamping variation, hazing, missing the print/character, filled-in character, misregistration etc.
Autoprint collaborates with Bengaluru-based Lucid Imaging for the software, which enables the machine to process fast with intelligent algorithms for speciality print inspection too.
