Please describe your company.
Established in 1985, HBD Packaging is a family-owned business run by the brothers, Rajiv and Neeraj Bhargava, with other family members, Seema Bhargava and Sanjay Bhargava. We started working in the Okhla Industrial Area and later moved to our present location in Greater Noida in 2005. We are primarily into paperboard packaging and manufacture folding cartons, litho laminated cartons, sleeves, food packaging, dispensers, display boxes, mobile boxes, four- and six-corner boxes, liner cartons, board-to-board pasted cartons, gift boxes, etc.
When did you start using the RMGT press?
The machine was taken into production from end-March 2023.
What are the properties of the RMGT you like?
It is a compact, ergonomically-designed, cost-efficient, both in terms of capital and operational, press.
Why did you decide to use the RMGT?
RMGT presses are considered to be the most energy-efficient presses, which results in notable monetary benefits. However, apart from this, the press has been equipped for cardboard printing (up to 0.8-mm) with a host of performance-enhancing features, such as auto washes, a closed-loop colour control system, special retractable coating unit, which is unique to RMGT presses and makes job changeovers between without coating and coating jobs fast.
Also, smart new functions for ink control on the press add to quick make readies. We already have three 40-inches presses and RMGT 38-inches size makes it suitable for all kinds of jobs.
We have a mix of small and medium-run packaging jobs which are competitive. The RMGT press with its running costs of plates (20% less), blankets (6-7% less), power consumption (almost 40% less), and faster makeready time than the 40-inches presses we are using, helped us take a decision in its favour.
How much have these features helped you?
We have just started using it and the feel-good factor is already there.
For what applications is the RMGT press used?
All kinds of packaging jobs are being printed in this press.
Is there anything that you do not like or can be improved about this?
Absolutely no issues till now.
If there’s a critical printing job that has come your way, would you rely on this to see it through?
Yes, we can definitely rely on this press for all sorts of critical jobs.
How easy is it to use and handle?
The press seems to be user-friendly. It is easy to use for even newer operators. It will prove to be a very useful machine for short-run jobs which can be produced competitively as compared to producing it on a 40-inches press.
Would you say that it offers value for money?
It definitely does. There are quite a few examples, the prime example being its energy efficiency as mentioned above. For our configuration, 38-inches seven-colour plus coater, the peak load is only 85kW (IR and UV and LED system are separate) when compared with the power requirement of approximately 160 kw for a 40-inches seven-colour press.
Who do you think the RMGT press is right for?
All kinds of packaging jobs can be done economically and it will be useful for a converter having a mixed basket of jobs. I would say, it is a good press for short-run applications in addition to long-run jobs.
Under what circumstances would you recommend it to others?
As explained, the press is excellent for all the applications suiting the size. Efficient capital and operation cost economy with the ability of the press to do short-run jobs makes it an excellent choice for all kinds of packaging jobs.

Akshay Kaushal, executive director, sales, Provin Technos, says, “HBD packaging, after careful study, has opted for the 970 series to enhance its production capacity and reduce its operational costs significantly. The RMGT 970 is an A1-plus size press which has been positioned to meet the growing demand in this segment. It is RMGT’s first 38-inches press in India. Capable of handling a maximum sheet size of 665x965-mm, the RMGT 970 can easily perform wide range of printing work, including a wide range of material, posters, and packaging. In addition, new features such as benderless plate clamp and predictive density control system quickly adjusts ink density to shorten make ready time. Feeder and delivery touch screen panels have also been introduced in the press for enhanced user interface and quick operation.”
