What is the USP of the print and packaging industry in India?
As my profession is a teacher, I produce young talents (manpower) for the printing and packaging industry.

As an educator, what have been the three biggest problems you have faced?
One, the recent technology updates in the market that is lagging in education. Two, the industry can identify talented students. However, they are not provided respectful remuneration. Three, the research facility is not provided to create innovation in the field.

How do you think these obstacles could be tackled creatively?
The recent technology updates could be shared through workshops or conferences with the teachers. The industry can identify talented students and provide them with respectful salaries. The research facilities could be upgraded in the teaching profession to innovate new ideas among the students.

Which is your favourite subject and why is it important?
Packaging technology. Here printing is allied with the packaging, offering multitasking opportunities. Therefore, I am interested in teaching this technology to the young talents.

Today, you are a teacher. Who was your guru, and why so?
My guru is my teacher Dr K Senthil Vadivu, professor and head, Department of Printing and Packaging Technology, who taught me a lot, personally and professionally.

One innovation you implemented after listening to your student?
Natural packaging material, for example, the tender coconut shell acting as a natural packaging material to preserve the tender coconut water. I have enhanced the tender coconut shaping machine and processing methods, which are patented.

Were you the minister of printing and packaging, how would you tackle the industry's problems creatively?
I would conduct regular meetings with associations/professional groups to adopt new technology updates and enhance the industry efficiency in different forms.
