A Silver Partner, Vinsak will give away the Packaging Converter of the year (F&B) as well as the Essential Service Provider during the Covid-19 Awards to the winners of two categories.
Bajaj said, “As a responsible and ethical stakeholder, it’s our duty as well to recognise and applaud excellence wherever noticed and we will continue to do that.”
In this tete-e-tete with PrintWeek, Bajaj discusses how the Covid-19 pandemic changed Vinsak and the industry.
Why do you think it is important to recognise the best work by the way of PW Awards?
Awards can be done by any organisation, but when an honest, unbiased, and leading organisation like PrintWeek hosts the awards, these carry a special honour and authenticity for printers and converters. These days you see several organisations giving away awards without due diligence and only based on money or quid-pro-quo benefits.
Covid-19 pandemic times were tough. What are the most significant changes you have seen?
Hybrid workplaces are the best outcome of the last 12 to 24 months. Efficiencies have improved, and costs have dropped. We are ready for Web 3.0 and the Metaverse as the way of our life much earlier than we would have been without the pandemic.
How was business at Vinsak?
Business has been good. Labels and packaging continue to grow.
Which have been your key products, and why are they popular?
Our mid-web flexo presses continue to be industry leaders in terms of technology and our finishing and embellishment solutions continue to help our convertors add greater value and make higher profits.
Have you launched any new products or services recently?
Our Vinsak high-build digital varnishing and cold foiling solution, has really taken the market demand to the next level of label and flexible finishing.
Your outlook on the print industry segment you cater to?
Packaging and labels continue to grow at double digits. Innovations in sustainability are what is needed on a daily basis. However, do be careful not to mix – green washing – with truly sustainable packaging. The majority of large companies continue to do smart marketing without actually creating environment-friendly products.
What, according to you, is the biggest risk for an Indian printer or converter today?
Not changing with the times is the biggest risk to any business. You need to constantly evolve your equipment, technology, production processes and manpower training to be efficient as well as relevant to the current market.
Your advice to an Indian printer or converter to succeed...
Always spend the extra few minutes to do a thorough return of investment calculation on any investment you make. A myopic view of capital costs will never make you profitable in the medium term.
