Beyond business: Highlights from PrintPack 2017
With 428 exhibitors at the show, the third largest print show had many things to celebrate and lots to talk about. Besides connecting with customers and doing business (which the exhibitors did), the event also saw a flurry of allied activities, from product launches to special announcements, visits and conferences.

Kodak launched a raft of new products in India. Those were: the Sonora UV process-free plates, for short to medium run UV and packaging applications; the Sword Max, which takes the Sword Ultra to the next level; and the Libra VP violet plate

Creasing matrix specialist Cito demonstrated its Drupa-launched range of latest innovations
Faridabad-based manufacturer of web offset presses Prakash Web Offset launched its latest Newslight 36, which its chief executive Saurabh Gupta, said was the company’s most ambitious product yet, designed to meet the present demand of newspaper houses with modern technology and quick changeovers. “The 36,000 copies/hour speed will help newspaper houses to produce multiple editions in a short span of time.”
During PrintPack India 2017, Welbound showcased its newly launched seven-clamp perfect binder and automatic folding machine - and the feedback on all five days was tremendous
Max Speciality Films had launched its BOPP, PET and nylon-based graphic lamination films at PrintPack 2017. The highlight of the Max stall was the all-new high grade Embossed range with unique textures like sand, leather, linen and alu-brush
Acme Machinery Company has introduced a few key features to its carton folder-gluer machine, Cartopaste. One of them is the carton ejection system
Prashanth Kumar (l) of Vijaya Grafiks has entered into a partnership with Italy’s Zator Srl, a manufacturer of glue application systems. Vijaya, under the brand name of PPEM India, will be the sole distributor of the applicator systems in India
On the sidelines of PrintPack 2017, IPAMA honoured four print veterans for their contribution to the industry. During the customary Exhibitor’s Night event on 6 February 2017, the four honourees were Bal Krishan Khindria; Darshan Singh; MM Kohli and Sukhdev Kumar Gupta

India is quickly rising in the ranks of the print packaging industry and has climbed from the eighth largest market in 2011 to fifth in 2016. This was the big take-away from the presentation by Thayer Long, president, NPES
The Federation of Nepal Printers’ Association (FNPA) is four years old and boasts of more than 2,000 members. There were more than 500 Nepalis at the show, of which 55 delegates ‘officially’ attended PrintPack 2017 on all five days. The leader of the group is Madhav KC, has been the president of the FNPA for two years now
