World premiere of Lila II 145 A2 was the eye-catcher. Bobst’s new made-in-India Lila machine, an abbreviation for the term litho-laminated will be manufactured at Bobst’s Pirangut plant in Pune, enabling the customers to fold and glue RSC, centre slot and litho-laminate boxes up to five-ply. The Lila can also produce CLB boxes

On 1 May 2013, Bobst India started the Bobst School of Converting in Pune, and to begin with, started the three month folder-gluer machine operator training course with an intake capacity of four students. Today, around 19 students have been trained and most of them have found placements

Welbound has moved into providing end-of-the-line packaging solutions. It’s first made in India, Hotcase 500, is a solution for sealing shipping cartons. Traditionally tapes are used for sealing the top and bottom of the carton after the product is packed. Welbound aims to replace the tape with hot melt adhesive and the global leaders in this space – Nordson and Henkel are supporting them in this endeavor. According to P Sajith (r), director for sales at Welbound, this case sealing using hotmelts is – tamper evident, provides better structural rigidity and makes it shelf-ready. It also allows the brands use the space for communicating with the buyers

Provin Techno was present with its BW Papersystems from MarquipWardUnited as well as Ryobi MHI presses. According to Peter Stokley (r), BW Papersystems’ SMH Sheeter - eCon is a popular sheeting machines. In India, there are three, two at ITC and one at Parksons Packaging.

Henkel team. The company showcased Airfoam, Henkel’s trademark product, for the paper industry. It is a two component glue which foams when mixed together giving a number of benefits in terms of stronger bonding, quick setting, better lay-flat and fast drying. It is the best cost in use adhesive which will be available in the market

NanPao, the Taiwan-based company does not manufacture adhesive in India, but stocks it. Navin Vakil, director for the India operations, says it’s an advantage. “We can supply to our customers on an on-demand basis.” NanPao came into India two years ago, and according to Vakil, today sell adhesive work Rs 15-crore
