In early September, the Bindwel Freedom 4K was loaded on to the truck. The Bindwel is ready to move from Peenya, Impel-Welbound’s manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. The Signa gathering system had already arrived and was waiting for the Bindwel to arrive
The six metric-tonne Bindwel Freedom 4K, arrives at Arihant’s plant in Meerut after travelling for seven days from Bengaluru. The truck parked inside the Arihant Factory in Meerut. The hoisting was done using Escorts Hydra 12.5 MT crane
The Arihant plant is a 3-storied building on the Meerut - Haridwar highway. The binding kit was set to be installed on the first floor. Here, leashes are being put around the consignment and are about to be lifted to the second floor

There were around three boxes in all, and each of them was lifted using the crane meticulously

Arihant had to create an entry point for the boxes to be shifted to the first floor. Here you can see one of the boxes making to its site of installation. Subsequently, the opening specially made as a passage for the consignments to be brought in, has been shuttered

Finally, freedom for the Freedom 4K. The perfect binder is unboxed and prepared to be integrated into the binding unit
The Bindwell Bindline is ready to be rolled into its position
The Bindwel Signa gatherer is brought to the position where it will be integrated to Freedom 4K to form the Bindline
The Signa 4K gathering stations which were the first to arrive at the scene, is here kept under wraps after it was unboxed
Despite the rigours of transport and movement of the consignments from the ground to the first floor, it was a scratch-less installation. The plastic shield ensured it. Here the gathering modules are aligned (four modules provide 16-stations) to the Binder. It took 10 hours and five people to complete the unloading, unpacking, lifting and placing
The book stacker unit is attached to the end of the gathering line. The gathered signatures are stacked in a zig-zag fashion, which is then taken out for offline processes like thread sewing
This is the book delivery unit, which will feed the bound book into a conveyor. The bound books are brought down in a downhill conveyor, before they are laid flat on to the conveyor. A series of conveyors can be connected to an inline trimmer

After a gruelling 20 hours, the machine alignment is completed and is now ready for commissioning

A close look at the Signa gathering stations
The book clamps of Freedom 4K. The 12 Rigid and firm clamps, that are centrally adjusted, accept the book blocks pushed up by the inline feeder, connected to the gathering machine
After the installation was complete, there were test runs, and finally what is seen here is the Signa gatherer and signatures ready for action. On the sides are the printed sheets which will take the form of a book one it passes through the binding line

In mid-July 2020, Meerut-based Arihant Publication India ordered the Impel-Welbound’s 16-station Signa gathering system, with offline stacking facility, in-feed into the perfect binder Freedom 4K, which is delivered on to a conveyor that could be linked to an inline trimmer. The company already had two six-clamp binders supplied by Impel-Welbound Group, in addition to a number of Muller Martini and Kolbus binding lines. The Signa gathering system was dispatched at the end of August 2020
