HP Indigo grabs digital headlines in India
HP boasted the biggest stall at Drupa 2016. The digital behemoth premiered the HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press. Now India has two installations of the B2 sized press. One at Silverpoint in Mumbai and the other at Colors Digital in Hyderabad, which boasts a maximum printing speed of up to 4,600 B2 colour sheets per hour, which is capable of producing more than two million colour sheets per month.

One of unique highlights of the application gallery is the fluorescent ink samples with a special focus on the fluorescent pink which has been much spoken by HP and its possibilities on the Indigo

The centre which has been developed with a massive investment of 25 crore also has a wide range pre-press and software solutions from various service providers including Esko Graphics, Haiyaa, Color Logic, Human Eyes, Enfocus and HP Mosaic. Appadurai was at his wittiest best during the media interaction and quipped that the choice of Chennai as the location for the centre has to do with his roots to the city. He also quickly added that the easy access to centre from the airport and also the city being the base for HP's solution experts being the main reasons
Speaking exclusively to PrintWeek India, Bar-Shany said that he expects positive effects of demonetisation and mainly GST to make a huge impact in how business is done in India in 2017. He believes being a post drupa year the printers would be making key investments keeping in mind the next three to four years

The 12000 which commissioned in the December 2016, will replace an older HP Indigo will co-exist with the firm's fleet of four-colours and five-colours presses, and its pre-press offerings

Digital print specialist Tituprint in Jaipur became the first in India to install the HP Indigo 7900. The machine was installed on 28 December 2016. According to Mukesh Tanvani, promoter and owner of Titu, the A3 press offers a significant advantages in print quality, application range, and productivity, as well as breakthrough priming technology and colour matching capabilities
Shany says, “The HP Indigo 7900 is apt for personalisation and variable data printing and will be a valuable asset to Titu Document Centre.”
