Japan discovers print flair at IGAS, 11-16 September 2015
The International Graphic Arts Show (IGAS) event from 11-16 September aimed at innovation saw 56,533 visitors from all over the world; including India. The event showcased latest products, from motion cutters to LED applications, to B2 digital devices. Top brands created a buzz, which should have a far reaching impact on Drupa 2016. The six-day event was held in Japan, at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre saw 56,533 visitors across the world. The exhibition was spread across six halls on 24,167sq/m area
Horizon displayed the recently launched RD-3346 rotary die-cut system for short-run applications. The machine can produce die-cuts and kiss-cuts on various flexible substrates up to 0.013inch in thickness for digital and offset sheets
Screen displayed the Truepress Jet W3200UV, a large-format UV flatbed printer comes with a high-opacity white ink option. It can take rigid board or paper sheets up to 3.2x1.6m format and up to 50mm thick, or multiple smaller sheets at once.
Fujifilm's stall at IGAS focussed on a raft of digital presses. The Acuity LED1600 displayed is a hybrid roll-fed printer featuring a low-energy LED curing system, and is suitable for rigid and very thin flexible materials
The first B2 inkjet digital press, by Fujifilm, the Jetpress 720S, was displayed at the show
Ajay Gandhi of Kunal Enterprise, the Indian representative for Sakurai and Esko was present at the show. Kunal Enterprise sold one Maestro MS102AII, a plastic and POP printing machine
Sakurai for the first time demonstrated the roll-to-roll cylinder screen printing machine, which can print on thin substrates at the exhibition
Duplo which is represented by TechNova displayed the Duplo 746 with embossing module. The machine, can be leveraged by printers which like Scodix can cater to the Rs 4,500 crore photo albums in India
At the Kodak stall, demonstrations of Trendsetter SCU+Sonora XJ, Prinergy 7 and printing samples of NexPress/ Prosper S was seen
Eckart, the manufacturer of pigments, showcased effect pigments for the graphics industry from offset to flexo and gravure printing to digital UV printing
Rohit Madan, chief executive officer at Mumbai-based R M Associates and Suresh Shah of Nulith Graphic at the show
Agfa showcased an assortment of products and professional services for the prepress and inkjet segments along with the live demonstrations of Agfa's chemistry-free CTP plate Azura and inkjet solutions; Jeti Titans
India day at the Ryobi MHI Graphic Technology (RMGT) stall. Five machines was booked at the show. Team of Delhi-based Provin Technos, the Indian representative for RMGT was present
A unique development from RMGT was the SAT system which is a combination technology of offset and screen. The first machine is already installed in Japan
Vinay Kaushal, director, Provin Technos, said, "RMGT's focus was on LED UV and all the displayed printing presses displayed was equipped with LED UV curing technology."
Two machines; Ryobi MHI V 4000 with printable size of 32x44inches and Ryobi MHI 940 machine was unveiled at the show
Developed by Screen Graphic and Precision Solutions the Truepress Jet L350UV delivers the inkjet technology
Impremia IS29, a 29'' sheetfed inkjet digital printing system displayed by Komori, features instant UV curing, double-sided one-pass printing and the ability to immediately start post-press processes
The Apressia CT137 is the first product in this lineup, this cutter features a sophisticated exterior design along with both superior ease of operation and stringent safety specifications
Komori displayed the Apressia series of post-press equipment at the show
Komori showcased Lithrone GX40RP, a H-UV equipped eight colour 40inches offset printing press with double-sided single-pass configuration, without flipping the sheet contributes to efficient use of paper by minimising the sheet size since a tail margin is not necessary
Heidelberg at their stall showed their first new brand identity and colour scheme
Screen Graphic and Precision Solutions displayed digital laser cutting system motion cutter. The motion cutter not only does cut, engrave and perforate, it also adds a new dimension in personalisation
Komori’s Indian representative, Insight Communications, was present at the show. Ajay Agarwal, Director and CEO of Insight Print Communications, said, "IGAS was good for us, as Komori garnered a lot of traction at the show."
Konica Minolta showcased Bizhub Press C71cf that can be used for the production of non-self-adhesive and self-adhesive labels and will produce short to mid runs at a competitive price
Konica Minolta Unveils the KM-1, a 29.5inch sheetfed UV inkjet press. With the ability to print on a sheet of paper slightly larger in size than B2, the KM-1 offers greater efficiency and versatility in the imposition process
At the Toyo Ink booth, a seminar on flexo ink market was presented by an ink specialist from Toyo
A range of UV flexo inks for labels and LED UV specialty inks and water-based flexo inks for flexible packaging was displayed at the show
Apart from inks, functional UV adhesives by Toyo, which are suitable for applications such as seals, cards, packages and electronics, among others uses was also exhibited
