The four-day show from 24-27 September saw more than 600 exhibitors filling seven halls at the Brussels Expo, of which nearly 100 were first-time exhibitors.

Advanced Vision Technology (AVT) is one of the world’s leading print inspection systems. The PrintVision/Helios II inspection system mounted on converting machines. There are more than 6,000 PrintVision systems installed worldwide. AVT will also feature the Zeroset automated inspection workflow, developed as part of a strategic cooperation with Esko. The Zeroset will, for the first time, be demonstrated on the Indigo WS6600 digital press at the HP stand
BST International’s inspection systems will be running live on many machines at the show. At it’s own stall, visitors saw web guiding, web inspection, colour measurements, register control, process automation solutions. Over one lakh BST kit has been installed in more than 100 countries
A Cartes label machine in the GT series being set up. Cartes was reportedly the fist to produce a digital die-cutting and converting machine. Cartes is the only semi-sealed laser machine in the reel to reel market. The same laser technology is applied in combination with screen printing, hot-stamping, embossing, flexo varnishing and die-cutting units
Codimag’s Viva340 Aniflo offset press proved the machine’s predictability, stability and capacity to match a proof without adjustment. Files dropped by printers on Codimag webcenter was converted into Equinox six-colour profiles and plates. An ERP connected to the Viva340 Aniflo reported the performance

Competing against the likes of Rotometrics, India’s Diehard Dies was vying for space in the die-cutting business. Seen in the picture is J K Rambabu of Diehard, who claims the company is the biggest die-shop in Asia; and is equipped with advanced German technology machinery to produce sophisticated die-cutting machinery at its plant in Guntur in Andhra Pradesh
Domino launched its full colour digital inkjet label press, an addition to its N-Series range. With the theme of Domino. Do More, the company took a step forward (since Labelexpo Europe 2011), in the evolution of advanced digital inkjet for label production
Durst unleashed the Tau 330 UV inkjet label press with in-line digital laser finishing system. Besides this, there was the very latest inkjet technology, the new Tau low migration UV inks from Sunjet
Helmuth Munter, segment manager, labels & package printing at Durst Phototechnik said that we may soon see one installation of Tau 330 UV ink press in India

Dainippon Screen launched its Truepress Jet L350UV digital label press at Labelexpo. The press has a print-width of up to 322mm (12.6in) and can handle media up to 350mm wide and can attain a top speed of 50m (164ft) per minute and up to 16.1m (173.3ft) per minute for a 350mm wide paper at a resolution of 600x600dpi

The Xeikon 3300 and 3500 digital label presses ran. The highlights were the new Ice toner that powered the machines and the launch of the ThermoflexX 80 flexo imager
Xeikon's CEO Wim Maes announced that Bencis Capital has acquired the company, and GIVMV has invested in a minority stake. He added that there has been a change in the management with two directors from Bencis and one from GIMV having joined the company

Despande, who invested in a flexo press said, “The show has brought the latest in label printing technology. One can see six to seven operations produced in one pass, with maximum production with less manpower.”
UPM Raflatac has reiterated its commitment to sustainability by exhibiting under the theme ‘Engineered with Raflatouch’. Robert Taylor, director – environment, UPM Raflatac, said, “We are looking at bio-based raw materials. However, it is still in its nascent stages and would take some more time to be actualised.”
Andy Cook, managing director of FFEI tells Noel D’cunha and S Swarnangka, chief operating officer, digital imaging solutions at TechNova, that after implementing the TLC, “tender loving care” programme with Caslon customers, things are getting better

Denmark-based Tresu Group showcased the iCoat 30000 coater, designed for the new HP Indigo 30000 digital press, following an agreement with HP. Tony Crab of Tresu, said, “This platform provides a single-pass alternative to labour-intensive sheetfed or CI-printing situations and allows converters to deepen customer relationships by becoming a single-source packaging supplier”
PrintWeek India spoke to Vinesh K Bhimani, managing director, Kimoha, a visitor at Labelexpo Europe. He says, "One year ago at Drupa we invested in a Xeikon digital press. We are happy that we have a early adopter advantage. In fact, we are planning to set up another plant very soon specifically focused on digital. I think linerless is really going to be the future"
iSys appoints Indian distributor for its label machine at Labelexpo Europe. Nishant Shah, CEO and managing director, Caterpillar Signs said, “We have had a long standing relationship with iSys. We are glad the iSys chose us as a preferred partner”
