Udhav Thackeray, the president of Shiv Sena inaugurated the four-day Pamex 2015 on 9 December. Today is the last day of the tenth edition of the All India Federation of Master Printers flagship show, underway at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The show has the presence of top players across the offset and digital segments
Thackeray reminisced his connection with print as early as the 1960s, said, “For the past 55 years I have been associated with the printing industry. We print Saamna, the Marathi newspaper at Phulora Printers. My father, Late Balasaheb Thackeray had set up a press to print Marmik.”
On the first day, SLKCG announced that the Carton inspection system on its stand will go to TCPL, Silvassa. Saket Kanoria, managing director of TCPL inaugurated the live demonstration of Beijing Daheng Image Vision Star JP420 carton inspection machine on display at the SLKCG stand
Canon India launched the C10000 VP. The machine is an upgrade at various levels to its predecessors, first introduced in Ipex in 2007
“It was time that the printers upgraded to producing 100 high quality print pages per minute. And the newly launched C10000 VP from Canon’s Imagepress stable delivers just that,” said Puneet Datta , director, professional printing products division, Canon India
Faridabad-based APL Machinery announced Vishal Graphics as its partner for the western market. Mumbai-based Vishal Graphics is the importer and distributor of print consumables. Vishal Laddha, director of Vishal Graphics, said, “LED UV technology is a growing business and APL’s offerings complement our business.”
Another big ticket announcement was Provin signing three orders for the Ryobi series of four-colour presses. Two of the 9-series four-colour presses will go to North India, while the third, a 7-series four-colour press will go to Central India
The jubilant family members of Sanjay Doshi, managing director of Adinath Print Service, who picked up the Komori Enthrone S429 four-colour press on the Insight Stand. Insight was the only exhibitor which ran live demos of a four-colour press
On the second day of the show, 10 December, Mumbai Mudrak Sangh had concurrently organised the International Technology Conference. The day long conference saw presentations from various manufacturers and a solid panel chaired by Faheem Agboatwala

In his keynote address at the Conference, Manoj Mehta gave a 10-point roadmap to growth and success. The 10 Commandments he spoke about were: Introspect, Create your niche, Leave the stereotypes behind, Improve. Innovate. Ideate, Think Futuristic, Benefit from Government policies, Return on investment, Sell orange juice rather than selling oranges for better business, Go Global, Worship your Work
In the first session of the conference, A Appadurai, country manager – Indigo and inkjet Solutions, HP, had in his kitty the various campaigns that were executed on the Indigo and in return upped the sales of the said brand. Durai said, “Digital has grown from being a chillar business to a profitable model when it comes to enhancing a brand’s value. The many gimmicks that one can do with digital printing is a gain for all, the printer, the brand and the end user. And all this while being able to be fulfill the technical requirements of brand colour and consistency.”
Steve Smiley, chairman of print Properties, US, emphasised on adopting and adhering to standards for colour management. The highlight of his presentation was the six steps of standardisation that one can follow to achieve colour consistency: arrangement for standardised viewing conditions, take assessments for colour vision, follow a common language for communication, calibrate the inspection instruments and monitors, define the tolerance values and introduce process controls
Harveer Sahni, of Weldon Celloplast closed the first session with a brief history of the multiple printing technologies being adopted for in-line converting
The Make in India panel of P Sajith (Welbound Worldwide), C G Ramakrishnan (TechNova Imaging), CP Paul (APL Machinery), Mehul Desai (MOS), and H T Hirpara (Line O Matic) and chaired by Faheem Agboatwala was the highlight of the conference. The conference saw an attendance of 130 to 150 print personnel
Coimbatore-based Proteck Machinery, distributor of post-press machines from Horizon, highlighted the RD 405 a rotary die-cutter and Smart Finishing Solution which has folding, stitching, binding and sheet processing system, to cater to the e-commerce and digital segments respectively
Suba Solution introduced an interdeck UV curing system
EFI marked its first appearance at Pamex with a significantly expanded portfolio of advanced print technology, which included a regional debut of EFI Matan roll-to-roll LED printers, workflow software and the EFI Fiery digital production printing technologies
Navi Mumbai-based SIES Graduate School of Technology (SIES GST) announced that the institute will host a job fair for the printing professionals in India. The job fair is slated to be held on 8 May 2016
