The PrintExpo 2013 concluded in Chennai on 23 June 2013. Although the size of the exhibition saw a reduction, with a total of 137 stalls and 6,000 sq/ft, the three-day show signalled a turn of corner for the printing industry in Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

The fifth edition of PrintExpo 2013 saw a total of 137 stalls and was spread across 6,000 sq/ft of space
In spite of the conspicuous absence of a few major players and regular local manufacturers, the exhibitors were satisfied - and most of them concluded deals at the end of the business days
Malhotra Graphics announced partnership with Renz, a manufacturer of punching and binding systems and with C&J, a Korea-based company for DigiCoaters
Intec Capital, a non-banking financial company, offered on the spot approval of loans for purchase of new equipment during the show
Xerox, were the marquee exhibitor and occupied the biggest stall in the event displaying an array of digital devices which included the C75 and J75 digital presses for the first time
K C Sanjeev, managing director of Welbound, said, "The exhibition was the ideal platform for my team to network and keep in touch with clients in book printing market plus key segments"
Paperbind displayed a digital slit cut system, Titan 200, GMP laminators, creasers, numbering machine, jogger and foiling machines. Demonstrations of new applications on the slit cut machine and the GMP laminators were held at the stall
Proteck’s strategy for the exhibition saw the manufacturer displaying their paper cutting system which includes the guillotine, jogger and the pile-lifter for the first time at the show
Megabound showcased economic, medium and high-end range of machines and notched up sales with 22 machines at the show
Hitech Systems' stall has consistently been the busiest stall every year and this year too Hitech upped the ante with massive never-before presence and launching five new products
Parag Shah of Hitech (first from left) announced the sale of the newly launched Foliant machine to Chennai-based Star Xerox at the show
Coimbatore-based Autoprint's stall was abuzz with activity as they introduced the Dion 450+ offset machine to the southern market
Monotech surpised this edition of PrintExpo with a stall which was triple the size from their previous years. T P Jain, managing director, felt his team was enthused by the footfall at the show
Vinsak highlighted its pre-press and brand protection solutions - and its experts were available at the stall to discuss best practises
Making debut at the PrintExpo, Vallava Graphic Machinery showcased a range of post-press machineries which included Premier, a case-making machine and Jack a joint forming machine
KMI, distributors of Konica Minolta digital production presses in India showcased the Bizhub PRO C70hc and Bizhub Press C224
Insight Communications displayed a host of kit from HP and Kodak
Ahmedabad-based Line O Matic conducted a live demo of SHS 104, which is an automatic reel-to-sheet ruling/flexo printing machine
Riso showcased the CZ 180 a digital master printer and MZ 870 a two-colour printing machine - at one of the busiest stalls at the show
In their third appearance at the show, Grafica demonstrated its nano-series, which included nano-print plus, nano-UV, nano-screen maker 5-in-1, and nano-print. The stall also saw DMI’s creative screen printed samples
Adobe's presence was well-received by all visitors, especially the SME players who used the opportunity to discuss licensing related doubts
Electronica Finance(EFL) offered financial loans wherein print companies can own machinery displayed at the exhibition by paying 20% of the total value of the machinery
Case-making, book binding and board knurling machine were displayed at Memory Repro System's stall. Apart from the machines, Chennai-based Press-Sense showcased consumables at the stall
HMT Machine Tools, one of the oldest Indian machine tool manufacturer (since 1953) opted for a catalogue show at the exhibition
Kapoor Imaging announced several strategic plans for the company, starting with the soft launch of their own branded Topaz CTP. Girdhidaran K, CEO (r) with a customer
Reprographic System and Supplies, displayed a wide range of pre-press and press supplies. The stall garnered solid footfall at the show
Bengaluru-based Simple Tech, displayed an automatic case-maker spot folding, L shape nipping press and manual spot folding machine at the show
Coimbatore-based Macrobond, displayed solutions for lamination and displayed fully automatic thermal/wet laminator, double side thermal lamination for digital press and a die-cutting machine
Epson's focus on packaging segment was evident in the demos of the Epson Stylus Pro 7890, 9900 and 4900 at the stall
APL machinery showcased the atom screen printing machine, in which the screen of the machine is stationary while the substrate can be moved unlike in conventional screen printing press. APL has applied for a patent for this technology
Sivakasi-based, Safire Offset Printer displayed print samples ranging from film posters (pioneers in this since 1985), wedding cards, calendars ad UV offset packaging products
The PrintWeek India team created a better outreach for the monthly magazine with 31 on the spot subscriptions (for one year-20, two year-4 and three year-7)
