Hosted at India Expo Centre & Mart, the eight edition of the four-day show, Pamex concluded on 17 November, 2013. The exhibition saw nearly 200 exhibitors across 22 countries showcase their products, and a footfall of 20,326.

Despite the overall sentiments being low, Pamex 2013 ushered in a wave of optimism for the industry. The show was inaugurated by Minster of State for commerce and industries, department of industrial policy and promotion to government of India, Dr EMS Natchiappan.
The biggest exhibitor of Pamex 2013, Ricoh India’s stand was formally inaugurated by Subhasis Ganguly, vice president production, Pearson India and Vinod Kumar Rajpal, vice president north – AIFMP. At Pamex, Ricoh showcased the C901+ Graphic solutionArts Edition.
Notching 27 installations of the continuous feed machine since its launch, Ricoh India has confirmed that Bengaluru-based Datacon Technologies has bought the Ricoh InfoPrint 4100 CF press at Pamex.
TechNova inked a strategic relationship with San Diego-based digital printhead manufacturer Memjet to manufacture printing solutions for label segment. The theme of Welbound's stand was 'Unlimited possibilities of PUR'. Welbound announced that it will supply nine six-clamp perfect binders and three knife trimmers, to Delhi-based MBD Books.
Pune-based Macart Equipments, launched Boxjet, the firm’s inkjet solution for the packaging industry, on the first day of Pamex.
Coimbatore-based Electro Mec Machinery Manufacturers (EMMM) demonstrated a six-clamp perfect binder along with a range of post-press equipment
Autoprint Machinery Manufacturers, the Coimbatore-based manufacturer of printing press and post press equipment, sold seven machines in first two days of the show.
Puneet Aggarwal, zonal sales manager for north, east and south, Bobst India, said, “Our focus is to capitalise on the market shift of the unorganised sector to the organised way of working. Market trend is where small to medium size players are trying to automate and increase their efficiency as a result of the scarcity of labour and the shortage of delivery time as compared to competition.”
Noida-based web offset printing presses manufacturer, Naph Graphics, promoted its Koncept web offset printing press at the show.
Aurangabad-based manufacturer of thermal lamination machines, Bhogle Engineering Works has recently installed six lamination 500 BS. Yogesh Bhogle of Bhogle Engineering Works, said, “The machine was launched two months ago and has a small footprint and can be operated by a single operator. We have recently installed the machine at four places in Bengaluru, two in Hyderabad and one in Solapur.”
Noida-based, Sheth Printograph the manufacturer and exporter of print finishing equipment under the brand name Daya launched Nano 2SM lamination machine with provision for inline double side embossing for desired designs and textures.
Aditya Surana of Indo Polygraph Machinery which represents KBA and MBO in India, shared that MBO's M-80 folder is the first modular folding machine, which can be extended or added even at a later stage.
KBA Rapida 75 was running live at the company's stand with all the automation.
Powis Parker’s Fastback 20, a multi-purpose binding machine, was displayed at Neopost's stall. Launched at Pamex, the machine can bind books with the help of a specially customized strip, of medium to large quantities from 10 to 350 sheets within a span of 13-20 seconds.
Delhi-based, Insight Communication, which represents Glunz & Jensen, HP, Kodak, Komori, Screen, Scheider, Soma Engineering, and Xerox, promoted the Komori LS 32 printing press at the show.
Chennai-based Monotech Systems, provider of specialised solution for pre-press, digital printing and wide-format printing, provided live demos of a wide range of products from its portfolio. Oce TDS750 multifunction system was displayed along with other wide format printers for different applications.
Pragati Corporation, who deals in thermal and wet lamination films, introduced new lamination films. The new launch of films includes series of designer and holographic films from Indian and overseas manufacturers, 3D thermal films, ultra bond films, scratch resistant films and UV protection films.
The New Delhi-based, Memory Repro Systems launched three new finishing machines. The newly launched products include a thermal lamination machine which laminates both sides of the printed sheets and performs trimming operation inline; paper embossing machine for A3 size and an UV texture machine.
Gurgaon-based post-press specialist Paper Bind displayed a fleet of equipment. “The Protopic lamination machine from GMP is surely a show stealer,” said Anuj Mehta, director, Paper Bind. The machine was showcased in India for the first time at the Printpack 2013.
While announcing the installation of Ratan CPF 2030 at Ahmedabad-based Ajay Offset, Manish Panchal, director of Kohima, the manufacturer of Ratan machinery, said that the 2030 is an online machine which can do creasing, folding and back to back bending of the type of paper material Ajay Offset uses. It was a catalogue show for Kohima where it highlighted slew of paper folding mahcines.
Amritsar-based Five Star Printing Machinery sold seven machines on the first day of the show.
Robatech India showcased hotmelt gluing solution for packaging segment and cold glue solution for newspaper segment. It has recently installed the cold glue solution at Dinamalar’s Coimbatore unit. The system at Dinamalar is a 32-page system and runs at 300 m/min.
Mumbai-based SLKCG inked a marketing alliance with Fuchu Shiko Company, a Japanese manufacturer of rigid box-making machines.
Nilesh Shah, sales director at KMI Business Technologies shared that KMI is concentrating on office and production equipment and has closed deals for 10 machines including a Bizhub C70HC and a Bizhub C6000, and about 8-10 office machines.
Proteck Machinery, the Indian representative of Horizon promoted a new concept of the Horizon air-suction collator.
The highlight of Proteck's stall was a full cutting line with joggers and pile lifters and a programmable perfect binding machine. The full cutting line machine is a new concept designed by Proteck which again helps in reducing manual work.
Raj Publications, publisher of Printing Samachar, a Gujarati monthly launched the Hindi edition of the magazine at the show. Narendra Parmar, publisher at Printing Samachar, said, ”Though Hindi is the national language in India, there has been no journal for printing industry in Hindi language.”
New Delhi-based Indian dealer of Mitsubishi sheetfed offset printing presses, Rotatek and MarquipWardUnited made its debut appearance at the trade show.
Heidelberg India focussed its attention on two aspects of operations: consumables production and Heidelberg Systemservice portfolio. Heidelberg offered Saphira HEI Pace P&C series inks at an exclusive rate for the entire year. “We are booking contracts for durations of three, six and twelve months,” said Robert Joseph, business head at Heidelberg India.
Mumbai-based Skyscreen showcased Zhongyi special effect UV varnish for screen printing applications as a value addition to offset printing. Nirankar Tiwari, sales manager, Skyscreen, said, “ We are educating the customers by highlighting the effects and textures using UV.”
New Delhi-based UV Graphic Systems displayed its newly launched Ultra Cure UV curing system, which the director Abhay Datta describes as future ready technology.
Riso India showcased, for the first time, its latest digital inkjet cut-sheet press which has a print speed of 150 ppm. The press uses oil-based CMYK pigment inks and can print at a resolution of 300dpi.
Siemens Financial Services' special Pamex scheme provided 100% funding for print companies to own printing machinery at 9.99% rate of interest.
APL Machinery bagged orders for its UV coating and curing systems and screen printing machines. A Attingal-based printer, A K Nazar, owner of Al-Safa Vismaya Press, invested in the UV curing system and screen printing kit, a roughly Rs 50-lakh worth investment.
Capital Graphic Supplies (AS Print Aids), distributors of Italian lamination machine manufacturer recently installed Ecosystem Costruzioni, Tresu, WD, CITO, MOLL Buhrs, Print Guard, Hunkeler and Kirk Rudy, showcased a wide spectrum of machines the company offers for the Indian market.
Vinod Vittoba of NPES, a visitor at Pamex, thinks that the show is a good opportunity to interact with the manufacturers and printers. He has been recently promoted as the new director of NPES India. Vittoba will succeed print veteran Viren Chhabra who served in the role since 2005.
Firoze Reshamvala of Lucid Prints said that his main motive to be at Pamex was window shopping and browsing through the various products offered.
Sukhvinder Singh of PrintExpressions, a visitor at Pamex, thinks that shows like Pamex are helpful to acquaint oneself with the upgraded technology.
