Silverpoint Press has become the first print company in India to install an HP Indigo 12000, after it took delivery of the press at its print site in Mahape in Navi Mumbai. The 12000 which will replace an older HP Indigo will co-exist with the firm’s fleet of four-colour and five-colour presses, and its pre-press offerings

Navi-Mumbai based Rukson Packaging has invested in a brand new Bobst Expertfold, the folding and gluing machine; a Bobst Novacut die-cutter, and a Heiber Schröder, window patching and liner machine to strengthen its post-press. Hyderabad-based Colors Digital installed the first HP Indigo 12000 digital press in India for the photo market segment. The installation was formally opened by Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager of Indigo division, HP who has been criss-crossing the country for several inaugurations including the state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence in Chennai

We have customised the software for specific jobs and it has made communication more effective”

Weepac has invested in a brand new pick-and-place machine from Esatec, France, a Bobst Novacut 106 die-cutter, a Bobst Visionfold 110 folder-gluer with four and six corners attachment and plastic kit, plastic sheet straightening machine, and a soft creasing machine

Mumbai-based Printmann has invested in a Bobst Expertfold with Accubraile, it's second, to accelerating the delivery of jobs requiring Braille. “Today 70-80% of pharma jobs require Braille. After the installation, our productivity has increased by 25%,” said (l) Tejas Tanna, director at Printmann

Pune’s Akruti took delivery of a Komori LS 427 B2 four-colour plus coater, and since then has made makereadies shorter and the print room cleaner. Akruti’s director (r) Girish Rao said, “We could see only two options – a Komori or a Heidelberg press, anything else would be a bit of a risk”

Vasai-based Skanem Interlabels Industries has installed an HP Indigo WS 6800 digital label printing press. The machine was booked at Labelexpo India 2016. H Venkataraman, managing director, Skanem, said, “Initially, the machine will increase our existing capacity and make it double. It will help us offer more options to our customers and increase our profitability and in-house branding.”

It produced wedding albums, catalogues, brochures, visiting cards, invitation cards and jobs for educational institutions. Last month, it set up a new division, DD Enterprises. It opted for Canon, but its popular ImagePress C10000 VP digital press

It later brought in a letterpress and specialised in sticker labels, which Avinash Kulkarni, director at New Point, said, helped him gain a strong footing in the print industry. The ‘ganging specialist’ of Pune, has installed a Heidelberg SM 74 Anicolor four-colour press and a Xerox Color 1000i, which Kulkarni said, has opened up new avenues

Multi-location packaging experts MK Printpack completed installation of India’s first Brausse 1050 SE automatic die-cutter and sheet laminator FMZ - 1260B. The machine was installed at MK's unit in Chennai. According to Nizamappas, business head of MK, there growing presence of special economic zones in and around Tamil Nadu. "Hence opportunities for packaging industries are also gearing up to galore"

One of Gujarat’s biggest paper stationery specialists, Nemlaxmi Books India is preparing to enter the print packaging arena. It has installed the RMGT 920 six-colour plus coater press, a DGM folder-gluer and ordered a raft of packaging finishing machines including the Eterna die-cutter at PrintPack 2017. It will also set up a rigid box making unit. Vineet Sekhani, the young director at Nemlaxmi, said, “We saw the machines and had been learning about the industry. We had been discussing this for the past two years"

Packaging specialist in Delhi, Print Square, has installed a Lombardi Synchroline 330 flexo press along with a Vinsak LSR 330, which is equipped with an EyeC inspection system. With this investment, the firm will move into the flexo domain
