Established in 1991, Vijayshri Packaging celebrated its silver jubilee on 21 October by launching a new 2-lakh sq/ft plant in Indore
Rajendra Shukla, industry minister in Madhya Pradesh (MP), Jayant Malaiya, finance minister (MP), Malini Gaud, MLA and mayor and Vijesh Lunawat, vice president of BJP state inaugurated the new plant
The event was Vijayshri's show of strength and saw more than 600 delegates in attendance, which included top names from print-packaging industry including Vijayshri’s customers, vendors, and media
During the factory tour, one thing was clear: Vijayshri’s focus on hygiene, standardisation and attention to detail
With Rs 55-crore investment, the new factory boasts of ISO 9001, ISO 14000, BRC / IoP, PS 9000, GMP, USFDA, and Sedex regulations
According to Jain, Vijayshri’s investment strategy is in line with the expected Rs 1500-crore investment flow in Madhya Pradesh, in the pharma and food processing industry
Today, Vijayshri is one of the biggest packaging houses in Central India with an installed capacity of 2,000 tonnes per month in order to cater to packaging and corrugation needs of pharmaceutical, FMCG, food, oil, sweets and garments segments
At the helm of operations are Jain brothers – Rajendera and Pritesh, assisted by the second generation Ayush Jain (Rajendra's son)
Stress on hygiene: The plant is equipped with HVAC, industrial epoxy floors, cleanroom standard protection area, high level safety standards and an energy conserving structure enabling green printing
The key features include maximum usage of natural light, adoption of efficient and advanced lighting systems to ensure minimal usage of electricity for illumination
The STP and ETP systems are in place for complete reuse of sewage and process water. Plus provision to restore rainwater with modern recharge system
A battery of seven offset presses – a mix of Komori, Mitsubishi and Heidelberg – makes the cornerstone of operations at Vijayshri
Apart from the four Komori’s operating at Vijayshri’s shopfloor, two additional Komori presses are expected to be installed in a month or two
In the post-press division a new Eterna folder-gluer with provision of side pasting, lock-bottom, four-corner and six-corner pasting equipped with hotmelt glue guns
Jain: “The idea was to offer total packaging solution under one roof and ensure availability of all kind of surface finish that includes foiling, UV varnish, drip off effect and film lamination”
According to Rajendra Jain, the manufacturing facility, is built to take care of employees need, which will encourage better individual output
Vijayshri plans to invest in foil printing in near future, and an area of 5,000sq/ft of the shopfloor has been left vacant for the same
The shopfloor is equipped with single facer narrow and micro flute high speed corrugation machines with auto stacker, backed with Steam heating for 3 Ply structure, manual laminators for 5 / 7 ply structure
The shopfloor boasts of two German H&S / Kohmann liner and window patching machines, with capabilities of wide window film application (three sides) which is one of the USP’s of Vijayshri
The factory is equipped to provide total solution for all kind of litho laminated cartons and shippers
A recipe to quality: A well-equipped QC lab helps keep a close eye on all receipts through stringent quality checks, self certification of quality at each processing stage
After specific lab checks, final inspection of cartons by trained QA staff before dispatch
The firm product offerings ranges from a variety of mono cartons, top-bottom-tray, litho laminated cartons and corrugated boxes / shippers, labels, among others
Currently, the firm has a workforce of 250 employees, and is expected to generate more employment opportunities in future. Jain says, "My vision is to touch the Rs 150 crore mark in next one to two years,"

Vijayshri Packaging has upped its productivity thanks to its 2-lakh sq/ft plant in Indore. Inaugurated on 21 October, the new factory is about process effectiveness. Vijayshri’s 40+ strong equipment arsenal for packaging and corrugation is poised to convert 2,000 tonnes of paper per month, making it probably the biggest packaging set-up in central India.
