​​Mondi keeps in touch with packaging trends at Interpack 2014

At the centre of Mondi’s 400 sq/meter stand was a striking five-meter giraffe made from corrugated material. The centrepiece giraffe showcase was part of Mondi’s initiative with WWF, one of the world’s largest conservation organisations, that focuses on increasing environmental stewardship in the packaging and paper sectors.

Along with the giraffe showcase, Mondi’s activity at the show centred around its new claim – In touch every day, which showed first-hand how Mondi touches million lives everyday through its broad range of product in use across the world.

According to market position in Europe and international, Mondi is number number one in Kraft paper, industrial bags, uncoated fine paper, and office paper; number two in virgin container board and extrusion coatings; and number three in release liner business. In the emerging European market, it is number one in container board and corrugated packaging.

At the show Mondi also made an extensive selection of announcements, which included, its investment in the Steti plant in Czech Republic. Other announcements included introduction of Touch Bag, an embossed industrial bag solution for improved branding and piracy protection; ColdSealPack, a self-sealing packaging solultion; Polywoven bag, a light weight and tear resistant pinch bottom bag for food and non-food application, steampack for convenient microwavable packaging; YBBS premium board for high-value packaging application and Miprotex barrier material.

“Mondi keeps its eye on what’s happening in the market so that we always offer our customers the best technologies and raw materials to meet the highest standards,” said Akbert Klinkhammer, director for marketing and communication at Mondi.

This is the first Interpack for Mondi since the 2012 acquisition of Nordenia and two Duropack plants. “We are showcasing our extended portfolio to new and existing customers while finding smarter ways to help our partners to improve their business.”
