International Printers Day conference in Dhule

The KS Wani Printing Institute in Dhule was the centre of all attention on the occasion of Printers Day. The faculty and students hosted a seminar themed: Trend is our friend - confabulations about the future of printing and packaging.

An one day seminar on Future of Printing and Packaging was organised on the occasion of International Printers Day by KS Wani Printing Institute, Dhule in association with Technova Imaging Systems.

On the occasion, Prof Madhura Mahajan from Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering and Technology & GKPWIM, the head of Printing Engineering Department, Pune, delivered a keynote lecture on sustainability and green printing. She explained the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to the first year and second year printing students and printers along with case studies.

Later Prof Mahajan discussed green printing and sustainable packaging. In her second session she spoke on the futuristic new technology, the utility of printed electronics in various fields and created awareness about the business opportunities for the printing fraternity. Ekta Mhatre of TechNova explained the unique importance of digital and offset printing. Printing technology will continue to change with time but printing will not become extinct. Printers should face the change without worry. Change is constant and the mantra 'Trend is our friend' was given.

Jitendra Songire of KS Wani Institute, in his opening address, said that the Diploma in Printing Technology course was started because of the vision of Dr Jagannath Waniand how he recognised the importance of the printing diploma course before the start of the Skill Development Program of the Government of India.

The KS Wani Institute has been working for the last three decades to create skilled manpower required for the printing and packaging business by providing an opportunity to poor and needy students from remote tribal districts like Dhule, Nandurbar to get education in the field of printing and packaging.

Mhatre, on behalf of TechNova, assured the printers and press owners of the region to provide new technology and equipment for business growth by providing finance on contract or at economical rates.

One highlight of the program was the felicitation of women entrepreneurs and printers.
