E+L launches Elclean and Smartscan
Erhardt+Leimerhas launched Smartscan, an inexpensive, camera-based quality assurance system, and the web cleaning system Elclean at Labelexpo Brussels 2015. The company claims both the products are easy to use.

Elclean is a contact cleaner for the label industry. Variants are available for both single and double-sided web cleaning. The device stands out with a particularly space-saving opening mechanism: Instead of the otherwise standard folding mechanism, a drawer system allows an adhesive layer to be pulled off quickly and easily from the adhesive roller and the adhesive or rubber roller to be exchanged straightforwardly – and this with significantly lower space demands than conventional systems.
No tools are needed for the replacement of rollers, and only one button is required for operation of the unit. Elclean is suitable for webs ranging in width from 300 to 1910 mm and is capable of removing dust particles from a size of 1 μm.
On the other hand, in addition to a video function with zoom, Smartscan also enables 100% print image inspection, splice detection and detection of missing labels and unremoved matrix.
Since the camera unit is housed in a compact enclosure, Smartscan can be retrofitted with no problems whatsoever to existing printing machines and finishing machines.
