The chairman-cum-managing director at APL, has also said that his company will formalise its tie-up with Air Motion Systems (AMS) of USA during Pamex. Air Motion Systems manufactures UV LED and ARC UV curing systems used in sheetfed offset, flexo and inkjet digital printing systems. AMS equipment will be on display at Pamex.

APL Machinery is a manufacturer of UV coating curing systems, screen printing, post-press, PVC profile printing and non-woven bags machines, and Vegra is a manufacturer of dispersion coatings, fountain solutions, specific purpose coatings, cleaning and maintenance products and printing aids. Vegra APL Printing Solutions, a joint venture between APL and Germany’s Vegra, offers print finishing consumables to the Indian market.

“Today, with international retailing entering India, packaging for brand imaging has received a tremendous boost. The need for attractive packaging is leading to more and more printing with UV inks on metallic paper boards (metpet). Other important trend is digital printing replacing offset in publication and short-run jobs in A3 plus sizes,” said Paul. He added, “Given this trend in the Indian market, we chose to focus on UV.”

Besides installation base in India, the company has presence in the global market. “We have established our demo centre in Munich which is a central place for Western and Eastern European countries. We are proud to state that our machines are installed in many developed countries at internationally recognised print establishments.”

Paul is worried over the rising costs of input material for manufacturing equipment but has tried to overcome it with new ideas. “We are surely worried by the rising input costs, hence we are now designing machines which will use less energy and attract buyers who are looking to bring down their energy costs,” said Paul.
