PrintWeek Awards 2023: Spectrum Scan wins POS / POP Printer of the Year

Spectrum Scan’s aim has always been to enhance the in-shop presence of the products for the brands, and further engage the consumer in a bid to boost sales for the brand and products on display. With consumers as the audience, the company created four samples – Onam paper board (POS/POP) for Nestle, Back to School (school bus) paper board FSU for HUL, and two Pepsi Decals for Wizicooler, each presenting on-brand themes.

Each sample was modelled on respective themes, for example, the Onam POS/POP, representing the widely celebrated boat festival. Spectrum Scan’s statement said, the mandate was to highlight the core identity of the theme but also offer space to feature the products. By using paperboard, Spectrum Scan has eliminated the use of plastic, making it a 100% sustainable, recyclable product, in addition to providing brand visibility and product position. Sustainability was again the focus of the HUL’s Back to School smart display-cum-product dispenser. Designed in-house, Spectrum used corrugated boards, giving it a vibrant look. The two Pepsi decals, one a tin and the other a bottle were produced on pressure-sensitive

RoHS vinyl. A combination of screen and large-format printing, the decals featured seven halftone printing and a high gloss top coat for UV stabilisation.

The jury members were unanimous. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way... to win,” said one of the jury members. Spectrum Scan did.

Special Jury Mention
Unidos Exports (Faridabad)

Unidos’ four submissions, including two of Fujifilm’s Instax camera campaigns were appreciated by the judges for the ease with which the displays could be set-up. All four display products were manufactured using 100% recyclable PP flute board, and the vinyl printed on the HP Latex press. The judges appreciated the carefulness and thought put into ensuring an appropriate end product.
