More than 50,000 visitors at Anuga FoodTec 2018
More than 50,000 experts from the food industry visited Anuga FoodTec 2018, the international supplier trade fair of the food and beverage industry, which was held at Cologne, Germany, from 20 to 23 March 2018. Visitors from 152 countries attended the show, which also featured a special programme by the German Agricultural Society, including conferences, guided tours and lectures.

Indian flexible packaging giant, Uflex, showcased Flexfresh, a special patented film made of proprietary polymeric composition that works on the principle of Active Modified Atmospheric Packaging (AMAP) Technology, at the show. The company said Flexfresh can help increase the shelf life of highly perishable fresh produce like fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Katharina C Hamma, chief operating officer of Koelnmesse GmbH, the organiser of the show, said, “This year's increased number of visitors was attributable to the rise in the number of trade visitors from abroad. We were particularly able to register significant growth from the countries China, Italy, Korea, Poland, Russia and South America. The huge interest from the international guests and the high quality of the visitors shows us that the alignment and concept of Anuga FoodTec do justice to the demands of the trade fair participants.”
The visitors had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in food and beverage dispensation and packaging. This included the opportunity to invective mobile and digital technology in packaging. Another important theme this year was the use of plastics in food packaging, particularly as the European Commission was currently focusing upon the modify of waste PET because of China’s import ban upon plastic waste put into force earlier this year.
The exhibition featured five segments — food packaging, safety and analytics, food processing, food ingredients, as well as services and solutions, where exhibitors presented a cross-industry and cross-production range.
The next Anuga FoodTec will take place from 23 to 26 March 2021 in Cologne.
