33 packaging companies win honours at SIES SOP Star Awards 2021
Total 33 printing-packaging companies won the SIES SOP Star Awards 2021. The award recognises the talent among the packaging sector for its continuous efforts in innovation, creativity, and new developments across various product segments.

Among the big winners, ITC had 13 wins, UFlex 11 and TCPL seven wins. Other winners included MTR, Marico, Essel Propack, Asian Paints, Huhtamaki PPL, Cipla, Cavinkare, among others.
Uflex also bagged the President's Award for Sustainability and Innovation for Kraftika, a paper-based tube by FlexiTubes for Wow Skin Science. The other award in the category went to Yash Pakka for its fibre-based food delivery containers. Meanwhile, the President's Award for Aesthetics and Innovation went to Allana Consumer Products for pristine filling and décor.
Tejashree Amberkar of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga won the Student Award for her work in recycled paperboard composite for thermoregulated packaging applications.
Started in 2017, the fifth edition of the SIES SOP Star Awards this year saw better participation and increase in the number of entries as compared to 2020. This year, the awards received a total 167 entries out of which 96 were adjusted winners.
Maximum entries were received in the health and personal care category, closely followed by food and packaging materials, showcasing the market trends for these sectors.
This year onwards, the award categories in SIES SOP Star Awards have been aligned with the WorldStar categories to simplify the application process for winning companies to participate in WorldStar Awards.
With the prevailing CoViD situation, SIES SOP plans to conduct the physical Awards ceremony in March 2022.
