Aakarsh Print-O-Graph installs a Ricoh C7100x

Mumbai-based Aakarsh Print-O-Graph has installed its second Ricoh digital press, a C7100x with a fifth colour station. The machine installed 15 days ago has already printed 1.25 lakh copies. The firm's first Ricoh was a C901s, installed in 2011.

The firm invested in the second Ricoh because of the size benefit the C7100x offers, the special texture printing, as well as back up to the C901s. Even the C901s clocks a run of 1.50-lakh prints per month.

“We are pretty impressed with the new machine’s output and our customers are satisfied too,” said Punnan Saji, who is the partner of the firm along with Arjun Dangar. “The machine can print on paper size of up to 13x27.5inches and thickness of up to 370gsm. We have printed jobs on difficult-to-print gloss papers too.”

Aakarsh produces photo albums, brochures, visiting cards, wedding cards, folders, and other collaterals at the firm’s 400 sq/ft site in Andheri East, which is located in the busy lane of Nagardas Road, and in the vicinity of Chinai College.

Most of Aakarsh’s clients are walk-in customers and canvassers, but the company also has a few corporate clients. “Our clients are such that they do not want to wait. And if the machine is down, they can easily go and take print elsewhere. That’s the reason, we opted for an additional press,” said Saji.

Prior to establishing Aakarsh in March 2011 with a pre-owned Xerox 250 colour press and two black and white machines, Saji and Dangar worked in a digital print shop. “Having worked for around 20 years together, we decided to set up our own print business. We received solid support from Ricoh, both in terms of finance and machine selection,” said Saji.

The company is equipped with a finishing section comprising of binding, paper cutting laminating, creasing and perforating machines.
