The tenth session of the Seekho and Samjho held at Government Institute of Printing Technology saw the rubber blankets as the focal point of discussion at the workshop.
The event began with Austria-based Josef Daurer of Voestalpine Precision Strip (Bohler) explaining the various techniques about making cutting rules and how various factors like body hardness and bending strength of the rule plays an important role in cutting and creasing.
Daurer explained the grades of cutting rule and said, “While selecting a cutting and creasing rule, properties like stability and bend ability should be considered.” R Pandiyan, director of Ashok Punch Arts, who are the manufacturer of dies was present at the event. He explained in detail the workflow and the manufacturing process of dies.
During the three-hour session, Nitin Ahuja, managing director of And Systems, the representative for Kinyo and Tru Air blankets in India, discussed in detail about the use of rubber blankets and how to select cutting and creasing rule in blankets.
At the session, Ahuja elucidated about the different types of blankets along with the applications. To explain this effectively, at the workshop Ahuja demonstrated with samples of blankets and dies.
For the benefit of the shopfloor personnel present at the event, Ahuja discussed in detail on how to store and clean the blankets in the right way. Additionally, he explained in detail the various problems faced by the operators and provided the guidelines for them to troubleshoot some of the pain points faced by them.
