Agarwal Print Media in Meerut hosts Heidelberg open house

Agarwal Print Media, which was in news in 2011 for phasing out its three offset presses and replacing them with a brand new four-colour Heidelberg SM 74 offset press, has done over three-and-a-half crore prints on its press in less than 10 months of its installation.

Heidelberg held an open house at this facility on 21 December 2012, which was witnessed by around 40 printers from the region.

At the open house, Heidelberg print engineers ran three live demonstrations in thirty minutes, which includes the time taken for make ready; commercial poster on 150gsm of paper, packaging job on 350gsm paperboard and a label printing job on 135gsm paper. All the three jobs were run in full speed at 15,000 sheets per hour.

Agarwal Print Media is one of the only two printing companies of Meerut that owns a brand new SM 74. In addition to the press, the commercial and packaging printer with a workforce of more than 50, has installed a Suprasetter A105 CTP with Prinect Signastation and Metadimension software, and a Polar 115 XC Plus cutting machine.

Sanjay Agarwal, managing director at Agarwal Print Media, said, “This press was installed in 2011 after we felt that quality of our prints could be further enhanced post the installation of a CTP and a four-colour press. Earlier, we had three presses in our units, which used to turnaround a majority of our book and packaging printing jobs. However, on a closer calculation we found that we could complete more jobs in a day’s span on the SM 74 as it takes hardly seven minutes to complete the whole process of a plate-change to production.”

“We had tested the machine and felt that a fully-interconnected setup using a part solution from the Prinect suite of software would streamline the production. This software connects our pressroom to the pre-press department and shares the details about the ink zones and the sheet size of each job,” said Agarwal.
