Mumbai-based colour management solution provider, Advanced Graphic Systems (AGS) has introduced the X-Rite eXact Scan, a spectrophotometer platform, which the company claimed, is extended with new scan capability. Compared to other products in the segment, such as Easy Trax, a semi-automated scanning table, this is a handheld scan solution for press-side colour control.
“This device can do everything spectrophotometer is supposed to do,” said Vishnu Kamat, AVP for sales at AGS, “The only thing is, one has to operate the device by hand.” On the plus side, Kamat added, “Not everyone can afford a solution like Easy Trax. Compared to Easy Trax, X-Rite eXact Scan is cost-effective and even a small business can afford it and add value to their products.”
X-Rite eXact Scan was first launched at Drupa 2012. The portable spectrophotometer can be set up to position key menu elements in the order most likely to be needed by individual users, giving them instant access to the tools they need, often in a single click. It can measure and scan colour strips, spot colours, pantone colours and shade of paper.
Kamat said, "While eXact can increases profitablity by decreasing make-ready cost, it can also sandardise the printing process and monitor quality."
AGS has also introduced sample cutting machines in India, in association with Chinese manufacturer Cut CNC. One such machine, of the DCP-H Series, has already been sold to Navneet Publication for their Mumbai plant and can be utilised for executing innovative designs like pop-ups.
Kamat said, "This is a sample-making machine that can give an exact approximation of the design being developed. The DCP-H Series can cut up to 15 mm thickness and can handles material like woodboard, acrylic, sunboard, MDF, etc."
