At the recently concluded Print Pack Sign Digital show in Ahmedabad, Surya Offset had the biggest stall with the tag-line – Printer for printers. “We want to promote ourselves and the services that we provide for our new venture into packaging and commercial market,” said Kashyap Purohit of Surya Offset.
According to Purohit, his print company received some 15-20 serious enquires for channel partnership on the very first day itself and ended with around 300. “This is our first exhibition since we started 1932 and I don’t think we have done any major marketing since then. Till now the image people had about Surya was that it’s a security printers. But along with security printing, we also did courtesy commercial printing. The time has now ripe for us to take the initiative and market ourselves as a commercial printer and expand the commercial market not only locally but throughout the nation as well as worldwide.”
Purohit has recently entered into this family-owned business, which is managed by his father, Mudresh.
According to Purohit, there are a large number of small printers in Ahmedabad, besides those who canvass, who do not have complete print services to offer to their clients. The company will be focussing on offering four services – commercial printing of large volumes for magazines, publishing, brochures; digital printing, packaging, majorly mono-cartons; and VDP and web-to-print services. “It’s basically sharing our infrastructure, which includes in-house pre-press department, an array of latest printing machinery, and in-house finishing department; our banner; our goodwill with the marketing expertise that these channel partners already have in a bigger market,” said Purohit.
Surya has three printing plants operating, one at Amli (Bhopalgaon), which was started in 1987, another at Changodhar which was set up in 2006, and the recently acquired plant in Sanand.
Besides being present at a few trade shows, Purohit said that will also create online campaign, if needed.
