Ahmedabad printers get a dose of technology and trends at the Epson roadshow
The third roadshow, in the series of PrintWeek India – Epson roadshows, was held on 20 February 2014, at the Grand Cambay in Ahmedabad.

The evening show saw an attendance of 50+ print CEOs including marquee names from the Gujarat print industry such as Vijay Shah of Chirag Offset, Mudresh Purohit of Surya Offset, Naresh Desai of Nextgen Packaging, Pravin Patel of Shree Printwell, Falit Pandya of Print Vision, Anant Patel and Vijay Jobanputra of Image Gravures, Ashok Adlakha of Canpac Trends, Shreedhar Printers, and Mahendra Patel of Satyam Scan among others.
Ramu Ramanathan, editor, PrintWeek India, set the ball rolling for the roadshow with a sleek presentation defining the A to Z of printing industry, covering trends, growth areas, new applications and emerging sectors.
In the following session, S M Ramprasad and the Epson team discussed digital label printing industry in general and Epson Surepress in particular, in conversation with Noel D’cunha, the deputy editor of PrintWeek India.
Ramprasad highlighted Epson’s Precisioncore inkjet technology with the help of a video presentation. He also discussed various applications of Surepress such as labels, photobooks, and flexible packaging among others. In the interactive session, the Epson team took questions from the audience regarding the ease of usage and other aspects of the machine.
Later, Satish Nayak of Bodhi Professional shared his insights on India’s first Surepress installation at Sai Packaging’s Bengaluru unit. Nayak explained how the Bodhi, Epson and Sai team was able to convert flexo job to digital printing. He also touched upon the importance of colour management.
The final session of the roadshow was a presentation by Samir Patel, managing director and chief executive officer, Arrow Digital, a distributor of Epson in India. Patel spoke about Arrow’s demo centre in Ahmedabad, which facilitates demonstrations, R&D and training for different technologies for signage, glass, textile, metal and ceramic printing; all under one roof.
As the roadshow drew to a close, D'cunha took a moment to felicitate Narendra Parmar, publisher, Raj Publications for his contribution to the printing and packaging industry.
