Anna University conducts Imprint 2018
The department of printing technology at Anna University conducted Imprint 2018, its three-day national technical symposium from 1 to 3 March 2018.

Organised by The Society of Printing Engineers (SPE), the event saw participation from eight institutions even as far as from Haryana. Kurukshetra University, Gurujambeshwar University (Haryana), Avinasilingham University (Coimbatore), PVG College (Pune), MIT (Manipal), Naachimuthu Polytechnic, Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic and IPT (Chennai) were the participating institutions.
Senguttuvan R, chief executive of packaging and printing division, ITC inaugurated the symposium and R P Lakshmivenkatraman, associate vice president, The Hindu delivered the guest lecture.
Apart from regular symposium events such as quizzes and paper presentation, the 37th edition of Imprint saw some unique competitions like connections, biz plan, print the price, jargon jostle, technical adzap, ad design, stay alive, channel surfing etc.
“Our flagship event Prove Yourself was the most anticipated and saw a five-member judging panel and enthusiastic participation from all students,” said Shashank Neralla, one of the organisers of Imprint.
The paper presentation on the theme ‘3D printing and packaging’ was won by the students of Anna University and Avinashilingam University.
The event also saw a seminar on ‘cloud computing presented by Anand Jeet, a member of Printing Technologists Forum and director of Cadgraf.
Ma Foi K Pandiarajan, minister of Tamil official language and Tamil culture, Government of Tamil Nadu presided over the valedictory function which saw the release of a book in Tamil written and designed by printing technology students of Anna University.
“One important highlight for us this time was the one of-its-kind ‘seed plantable’ invitations. As the name suggests, the invites were made of a special substrate (paper) that is bio-degradable completely and has seeds of our choice embedded all over the substrate, so post its use the invitation can be sowed! This was hugely appreciated by one and all,” concluded Shashank.
