The use of genetic transfer technology results in reduced costs, minimised waste, and maximised label quality. Visitors to the booth can see how a limited set of GTT aniloxes can handle diverse label printing demands.
In terms of his expectations from the industry, Mangesh Bhise, director of sales for the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East at Apex International said, “We have a major share in the label industry. For India, I can say that we have a 70–75% market share. We see a good growth in the label industry. We have unique engraving technologies when it comes to anilox.”
In addition to GTT, Apex is exhibiting its UltraCell engravings, designed with ultra-shallow cell geometry for greater ink release and faster clean-up, enhancing productivity.
Apex has also introduced anilox sleeve and roll protection covers to safeguard anilox rolls during storage and handling. These protection covers are specifically designed to shield the edges and faces of the anilox roll from impact damage, reducing the risk of costly repairs or replacements. This addition ensures the longevity and protection of its products.
When asked about how the event is going for Apex, Bhise said, “Most of the customers we know. But looking at this particular event, I think that it's shrinking. I mean, compared to the previous edition, the size is small. The major original equipment manufacturers, who are well-known in the industry, are not here. They are focusing on the other events. I would say that we know the customers that are coming. Those that are are serious customers. But the reach is not that much which we expected.”
Speaking on trends in the label industry, Bhise said, “Digital is coming. We can see that. But when it comes to the label industry, flexo itself is growing. So people are not just talking about the narrow web. Mid-size flexo is also growing. Labels are a different market nowadays. No one is talking just about conventional pressure-sensitive labels or normal labels. They are talking about printing more personalised premium labels.”
