Apsom also announced the launch of Roland Eco-Sol Max2 inks in nine colours: cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK), plus light cyan (Lc), light magenta (Lm), white (Wh), metallic silver (Mt) and new light black (Lk). It claims that in combination with XR-640, the new inks can produce high quality, large scale images in a shorter time than the machine's predecessor.
As the industry’s first printer/cutter to offer this much power and versatility, the XR-640 is designed for volume production while allowing professionals to express their creativity with high-end effects and finishes
Ravi Agarwala, director at Apsom, said: "As the industry’s first printer/cutter to offer this much power and versatility, you can use that to speed things up, but it’s the overall package, which combines printer, ink and RIP that makes everything faster. Combined with special effects using white and metallic inks makes this an unbeatable proposition.”
He added that the white inks were "as strong if not stronger" than other eco-solvent white inks on the market.
"The different formulation of the inks has improved their density and opacity. This makes them suitable for printing cheaper window graphics because there’s no need to apply a second coat."
Agarwala also informed that Roland DG was presented with the Viscom ‘Best of 2012’ award in the sign-making category for its Soljet Pro4 XR-540 printer/cutter. He added that a free upgrade to Roland’s VersaWorks colour management software, which includes access to six pantone libraries, was also available.
"They save time and make it easier to get client’s colours right first time without having to map swatches or use spectrophotometers," he said.
